As I grind out new mechs to add to my collection I thought ide toss out a line for some suggestions for mechs that shine best in CW(IS mechs). I understand that long range based mechs seems to be the more useful generally but I am always looking for opinions from people about thier experience with diff mechs in CW

My current drop is HBK-GI, QKD-4G, TDR-9S and Jaeger-DakkaDakka(I do ok but havent played this drop a lot yet)

Well my lineup is as follows
Spider (ECM)
ShadowHawk (LRM and ER Lasers)
Jagger (In case I need a lange range dakka brawler)
Battlemaster BLR-1S (massive LRM/PPC boat)

I usually bring either one of my LRM boats as the first drop. I find that softening up the enemies before they can see you makes a big difference. With this drop table I am top damage player 95% of the time with an average of 1500 damage with my first 2 mechs.

snipers fits only to fights, where is none pushing.
In most cases CW likes fast (80+ kph for inner sphere) dps-oriented(dont afraid to put XL) mechs for medium range (0-500m).
LRM for noobs only.

Take 2..4 DPSers.
1 brawler-tanks (thunder 5SS f.e.; D-DC -waste of tonnage) is optional
1 sniper is optional
1 ecm suport(only raven; spider, D-DC, 3M - waste of tonnage) is optional

avoid team-depended or slow mechs (assaults, lrmshit)

My suggestion: Play what you are good at. Don't let anyone tell you "this mech is soooo much better", because, if you don't follow that playstyle, you will not do good in it.

Know how you like to play, and you will do fine.

Again, don't let anyone tell you only certain decks work. If you find something that works for you, run with it.

While I agree with this, I also like hearing peoples idea's which is why I throw topics like this out there. I like to try all kinds of idea's and I take all posts as just that, ideas and opinions. As someone else posted PRACTICE is important,....so is knowledge and these posts give me both, knowledge via practiced players and then practice by trying these ideas(if I fail at the mech at least ive made an attempt to learn that mechs playstyle and therefore learned a bit of how other players play it and or how I can overcome thier playstyle) Thank you all for your idea's so far, keep em coming

Not a problem. Just throwing my voice out into the multitude, like everyone else.

I run 1 of 2 drop decks
1.
Jenner f- 6 sm pulse
jager S - dual gauss
jager DD - ac 5 med laser
jager FB - mid range
2.
jenner f
jager S - =
Jager DD - =
DRAGON flame - ac 20 and mediums or ac 10 and mediums with bigger engine

I play with a group most of the time however, and I typically in attack use my mechs with the sole focus of gimping opponents. If im on defense I use 1. if im on attack I use 2 so I can rush with the flame. I use the mechs because I have been using some of them for over a year and I have proven to be effective with them time and again. My play style fits in with my unit and that helps, one thing you might want to consider if playing with a unit is to make sure your drop deck works with the rest of your unit

@IG 88 Perhaps im missing the importance of making that TDR-9s a zombie but I would think that this build would work better? The weapons are shoulder slot anyway so XL shouldnt matter, what am I missing?

2xDHS in the engine will provide better heat reduc, you have 3xML as a backup(which is why the loadout shows lower cooling eff)and the XL allows for better speed. Whatcha think?

I think XL will get you kill in 3 shoot in CW.
I think you will never use the laser. They heat more then 1 erppc shoot, deal less damage(spread), have less range and a higher cooldown.
I think speed is not important for a sniper, 74.0 kph is more then enough.
The 3th erppc in the left torso is as high(almost) as the other 2 and also more precise(juste under the cockpit) so you only have to show a little of your mech and shoot, if you put the 3th one on the right arm you have to expose all of your mech to shoot.
Your mech have a BIG weak spot "the right troso" if it got destroy, your dead. Making all your other weapons... well... useless.
The meta build, if your right torso is destroyed, you still live and have 1 erppc left.

This is pretty much the ultimate badass CW mech for IS. Since it is relatively easy to control the range of engagement and keep up a poke-off in CW, you can easily fit in two of these without having to worry about them not doing work (especially since they aren’t horrible at short range either due to the relatively low heat of the ER PPCs). It remains useful throughout all of the battle and it is just a pretty badass mech overall, though much more so in CW than in the regular queue.

3 STD engine TDR-9S and a Vindicator with PPCs. All the PPCs.
