Last night was brutal. My group went from 5-2 in CW drops last week on the Marik border to 0-6 this week on the Kurita border. the two Kurita units defending Misery last night were solid groups.

I sincerely hope you guys aren't getting discouraged and stop queuing up. Several Davion units have started to adapt to our tactics and a lot of our matches are getting closer. You should see this as an opportunity to harden your soldiers and tactics as the DCMS has against the clans.

Wednesdays are quiet. That is why WNW is awesome. We may need to eat a couple nights and take the time to legit setup mixed unit groups and some dry runs but we're not going away.

Seconding this: I would challenge all Davion players to remember how hard our faces got rolled in the early spats with Marik. Now we're basically really good at one thing: Fighting Mariks, which is all but useless for fighting Kuritans. So what do we do? Same thing as before: Adapt.

find it rather interesting that there is a distinct difference in fighting marik or kurita

There really is. When CW first started, units like mine (WMC) were purely casual and thus had to learn a lot to even come close to winning. Over a couple weeks our form started to take shape and as we learned how to better work as a unit, we also learned the tactics of our Marik and Liao counter units. Soon enough we began to win a few. Then the focus shifted. We moved to the Kurita border and it's like we have to learn all over again.

And not even all of the Kurita units operate the same way. We all have very enlightening experiences when we trade off players and drop with other units within the DCMS.

WORLD of difference. Marik is god-tier zerg. BWC pretty much made the zerg rush what it is. They are the wellspring from which that flows and they do it better than anyone. Just about any tactic with lights they probably do as well or better than anyone else.

Everyone talks trash about LRMs - Seraphim and Gunfighters with Marik work LRMs to stupid effect. That moment when you realize there are, not kidding, ~300 LRMs inbound on you when you crest the hill for your attrition push on Sulfur Alpha gate, you've been narced, there is a UAV *directly* above you. Yes yes, there are 4 or 5 teammates with 1 or even 2 AMS each close to you. NOT GONNA SAVE YOU. Conversely they work great for breaking your zerg; you're 10 paces past the gate and your ECM mechs have been narced and you're getting LRMed down and are happy to get 2 ogens.

There are *always* LRMs when fighting Marik. Always, every wave, and they use them to brush you back. Most Marik waves, offense or defense, have LRMs and people who know how to use narc. They don't zerg very often; where do you put LRMs on a firestarter? I think it confuses them.

Liao mixes zerg and Atlas rush. The 12 Atlas/Banshee/King Crab conga line rush, after 3 zergs. They have a few units who go TDR/ACboat attrition but they generally focus on securing and farming a drop point.

Marik and Liao were all about urgency. Heavy zerg, light zerg, split rushes for attrition, they matches are hugely aggressive and frantic. I'm completely serious that 90% of matches against Marik involve Ogens wiped and Omega 20% down at the end of wave 1. Then 1 or 2 slower attrition waves so everyone gets paid, then a struggle over Omega.

Kurita is a lot slower pace. It's not a matter of having to rush to stop you guys before you get into position; you play more like Clanners. Focusing on legging you isn't as important, most of you focus best on focused-fire and attrition.

Need to change a lot of habits to fight Kurita. It's been a very, very good thing. We could run zergs but everyone pretty much hates that so much we'd rather not play now. So we need to adapt to new tactics and win on attrition and steady push to objectives. It's been a lot of fun; like I said we're glad you guys showed up.

Noticed that. Huge props, it shows and it brings your average level of player way up.

That explains all the AMS we were seeing installed on Davion battlemechs. It really surprised us to see double AMS installed on Thunderbolt 9s, Jester and even a firestarter once. In our experience, very controlled deployment of ECM and direct-fire suppression of spotters saves us from any LRM woes.

They make NARC work and it's freaking always there. Sometimes you'll see all 12 mechs on the other team with TAG, regardless of what they carry otherwise.

hard to suppress spotters when the whole other team is spotters, also a pretty steady halo of UAV.

It works for them. Never seen anyone else pull it off well. They've got positions on Sulfur and they're quick at NARCing your ECM when he hits an open space and then WHUMP. Your Spider gets 200 LRMs, then a few seconds later your D-DC is eating 200 every 4 seconds. Now your ECM is gone and they're humping you from 1,000m+ with range modules. You can push but they've got the same TDR lineup you'd expect from anyone else.

Like I said. Frantic matches. Liao and Marik both tend to play very fast, very aggressive and split-unit tactics. Adjusting to your slow, methodical, focused-fire advances has been a struggle and as I'm sure you've seen we've still got a lot of pugs who keep hopping in, sprinting out and shooting leg damage as fast as they can before dying. We're also inveterate peekers; this sense of urgency to get the enemy down fast before they get to objectives or to get to objectives before you get LURMed or counter-zerged.

You should hear our chat/teamspeak. 'QUIT ******* PEEKING!' If PGI gives us a comm rose that needs to be one of our options.

Anyway, feel free to take a poke at them and see how that works out.

Some of the biggest and best units have left Davion. The Star League was reborn, but only a select few seem to care. Davion borders are being constantly attacked despite the heavy clan push to the north. We are shedding planets left and right and the once mighty and powerful Federated Suns appear to be in a downward spiral.

Thank God it's Wednesday. Time to gather all those remaining pilots and units for our weekly Hump Day hoorah that is known as Wednesday Night Warfare. We will be dropping starting at 5pm PST, 6pm MST, 7pm CST, 8pm EST, and 9pm AST. As usual we will be occupying the Wed Night Warfare channels on the AFFS TS server located at ts50.bargainvoice.com:7345. All Davion pilots are welcome regardless of experience or if in a unit or not.

Happy Hunting and we will see you tonight.

Would have loved to do more, but my group ended up with only four or five towards the end so we cued up where we felt we could best get in on a match without having to wait forever. See ya next week.

If it makes you feel better I think everyone's been there. We had a couple of our teams severely undermanned tonight too. Life happens and so do off-nights. We do genuinely appreciate you playing against us tonight.
