so ive been away 3 months after fire damage to house and Ive got a new laptop.
Its a Gigabyte P17f (i7, 2gb GTX850m running a crucial SSD)

On low settings I cant get over 45 fps (I got higher on my old 7670m laptop!)

I downloaded GPU-Z and my pci-e slot is showing as running at 8x and not the 16x it says it can run at. I have disabled all power saving, I have the latest nvidia driver for my card

Im all out of ideas , im running Win 7 x64

Any ideas to increase my fps appreciated, I would especially like to know how to get my card on 16x

edit - on swamp map i get around 30 fps on low

What i7 is build into that laptop? MWO is pretty hungry for CPU power and high clock speeds.

Make sure you are indeed running on the dedicated GPU and not the build-in one of the CPU.

according to this: http://www.gigabyte....spx?pid=5223#sp
it's a i7-4710MQ, 2.5GHz Base with Max Turbo of 3.5GHz

@OP, Double Check Power Profile to see if it's set to High Performance and also check temps, it could be Thermal Throttling lowering performance.

Doh! Thanks! Forgot to check the manufacturer page.

Looks like the CPU is pretty much ok, as far as laptops go. Not much you can do on that end, unless the laptop allows to overclock. With overclocking, heat might be a problem though and Letto's advice to check for problems on that end is a good one.

Doublecheck it's actually using the nvidia gpu and not the intel onboard.

If you are consistently getting above 30 FPS, you really have nothing to complain about. Really.

fixed the problem, changed my global settings in nvidia control panel, it ignored the application specific ones

now on 105 fps on ready up screen, 85 fps in game

1300x resolution , all graphics on low except textures and objects both on very high

sweet deal

still playing to get best graphics/performance tradeoff

I have tried these changes, as well as suggestions in other fps improvement threads,...none have helped. After the last patch my game is now unplayable...with fps around 5 during combat and 15-20 during drops. I do play on a laptop, and will not be getting a Desktop for quite some time. Unfortunately, my only option now is to cease playing MWO.
