Click the "Gears" of the launcher.
Choose "64bit client."
Enjoy.

From the launcher window, theres a small gear (settings) right next to the close (X) button. Click it and you can tell MWO to run in 64 bit mode.

cheers.

Note that 64-bit MWO is still new and suspectible to more bugs than 32-bit.

64-bit processors are the norm (have been for several years) but many programs are still being written in 32-bit code. However, 64-bit processors handle them fine with perhaps some exceptions. It's 16-bit code that won't work (Some win9x programs or older)

Afaica the 64 Bit Client runs as stable and better performing as the 32 Bit Client - do use it if you have 64 Bit CPU+OS !

Resolved it, I followed the instructions outlined here: http://mwomercs.com/...4bit-mwo-client

not sure why the directx9c updates would make a difference, but it doesnt crash anymore. Unfortunately it doesn't give me an increase in framerate the past day I have been using it :(

oh well. thanks anyway :)
