UPDATE: 3/13/15

Sorry guys, looks like it's not on the radar anytime soon. Big thanks to Alex G. for stepping up once again and asking the hard questions!

Quote

The hitboxes scale to fit the geometry. So when we did the AC/20 AC/10 re-scale back in February, the hitboxes for those components were also scaled up to match. The same would apply if any geometry is scaled down.

Regarding the YLW....I've just spoken with the art department about it. Unfortunately, the answer isn't what you're hoping for.

There are no plans to revert the YLW back to the original arm style. As cool as it may have looked, the decision was made to standardize the appearance of the AC weaponry for all 'Mechs. Standing the original YLW next to another AC/20-equipped 'Mech was odd-looking from a functional standpoint, and highlighted the fact that the Centurion would be running at a hitbox disadvantage due to the extra geometry compared to other AC/20 loadouts.

Dear PGI,

Would you be able to tell us how much, if any the right arm hitbox changed when you did the grapic pass on the CN9-YLW?

Would it also be possible to restore the AC20 arm on the Yen-Lo-Wang to its former glory. I'm all for using the current design for all ballistics except the AC20. The AC20 needs to reuse the old design.

Would you also be able to revisit the scaling of the mech in the future? It should be slimed down to that of the concept art. In it's current size it competes with heavies, which is no bueno.

P.S. As this is the very first mech I purchased in MWO. I'm very disapointed in the scaling, and the changes to the right hand. This wasn't a c-bill mech.

Considering it increases the incentive to never adjust hardpoints thanks to the amount of time it takes them to model these things and considering the state of the missile Catapults (never forget), I'd say its simply a curse.

There should be ZERO time or seconds involed in reverting the graphic changes of both Catapults and Centurions. They should still have the assets on hand of previous designs (if not shame on you PGI.)

I'd be happy with that big cannon but I think it should be shortened a bit so its less likely to be shot off.

Does the graphical display have to reflect the exact same size of the hit hox?

I wonder how much the hitbox differs between previous and current versions. I know they added armor quirk but how much did the hitbox actually change?

everyone's yen-lo-wang is like red and white.

I painted the red a dark blue, and the white part black and renamed it the Eclipse.

That's not what I was talking about...
Even if they didn't have them though, someone within the community would.

I really liked the look of the old arm, but considering the fact that the Dragons AC arm has yet to be updated I doubt they will make it a priority.

How bout we appeal to both? Keep the original arm on the yen low if it uses an ac20 and the juice box arm if it's using more than 1 ballistic. The same can be applied to the centurions, if a centurion is using 1 ballistic it will use the boomstick arm, if more than one it will use the new model. Win win right there.

As for the AL i personally would like to see its old model back, and the missile bay doors can be optional.

Kinda sucks that pgi screws with the looks of things that ppl buy and pay for. Its enough to constantly adjust balance issues, but ppl grow fond of how mechs looks. Specially ones we pay for. Come on PGI, it was the first hero mech. The first darn mech that had actual colors on it other than OD green back in the day.

Come one, YLW was a CUSTOM mech for crying out loud. Why they made it look like every other ac20 is beyond me. Unless it just dose not warrant the attention needed to be special anymore

Naawwwww, why would anyone care how it looks? (insert sarcasm here)
