The red potion is cure poison. Purple is protection, white is 'light', black is invisibility, green is poison and yellow is healing, orange is 'awake'.

Know your potions and status effect colors. It could save your life some day.

Or, to simplify it:

When Samurai is going Fudofudofudofudo, just don't mess him up and wait your turn like a good second-class melee. Eventually he might even miss a swing or get eaten. Then you can use your worthless second-class not-katana weaponskills.
