Well what can i say,i can almost forgive PGI for ruining the 4H with these quirks.

I ran this for 8 hours.

Never broke 1k,but 800-900 damage games were very frequent,1 in 7 actually.

That 365 meter medium laser range with the module makes all the difference,it just syncs so well with the LPL.
If you have mothballed your Quickie, now its the time to dust it out.
My only complaint is that it makes my Jester unemployed
Other possible usable builds would be the 1 LPL 5 ML setup with XL360.

I'm pretty sure laservomit is a term that only means Clan er mediums and clan large pulse as they have same reload time and same beam durration...

Also running this just with an XL 320. Been having loads of fun with it, and finding it's performance to be in line with other top tier heavies for the PUG queue at least.

Quirk-based Laser-Vomit.

Same Alpha as OP, but with 27dmg reach from LL instead of 22dmg from LPL. Sacrifices 0.17s laser duration though.

The build is more expensive than my Stormcrows. I'm not sure that counts as budget.

My QKDs were never mothballed. Been doing this sort of thing for months, including a six-kill match in my 4H.

This is what I run in my 5K:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ab9d0decb87aecc

It really kicks butt.

That being said, I may try to OP's build. I'm getting tired of running the same thing and am feeling the itch to play Legos with my Mechs again...

cookie and i are QKD addicts. especially 5K addicts. 1k battles in mine, played it n nearly all tournaments.
use the same loadout and its crackin timbies like nothing good while always beeing able to stay a bit at range and do hidden shots with the LPL's.

Hey guys. I am wondering what makes the Quickdraw's laser builds superior to the Grasshopper? Someone mentioned 2 LL and 4 ML, but I think immediately of my GHR-4J, which runs 3 ERLL and 2 ML. Or an even better analogue would be my 4H, which runs 2 LPL, 1 LL, and 4 ML - and therefor could also run 3 LL or ERLL with 5 ML. The Hoppers even come with jump jets, and I run an XL330 in all three variant for something like 75 kph (84 with speed tweak).

I should say that I'm not predisposed to dislike the Quickdraw - in fact it was my favorite trial mech, and I even bought the champion variant with the PPCs for my first mech, so as to be able to unlock the basic skills for that chassis. I know the Quickdraw is faster - and if we just compare stock builds a LOT faster than the atrociously slow 64 kph the stock Hopper manages, but on the other hand the Grasshopper has more armor and more weaponry.

So does it come down to speed? I do still wish my GHR had more speed, especially the 4J with the higher engine cap (360? Or 365?), but I can live with it because of the additional weapons. Anybody have thoughts on the comparison of these two mechs?

Range quirks, mobility and damage rolling ability.QKD does the damage rolling part very nicely compared to the hopper that relies only on its superior torso twist for its protection, the key to successfully laservomiting in the Quickdraw is to reverse jump jet into safety after an alpha strike and thus spreading the return fire to your legs and arms. You really cant do that in a Grasshopper very well.

I like them both,Grasshopper can pack some fearsome firepower for its tonnage,(58 point pulse laser alpha with 2 LPL 6 MPL for example)i always tend to use the GHR as a anti-assault mech role, zap alpha-strike,relocate and kill the assault mech with the second alpha.Quickdraw is more like "shoot everything that moves" mech,it has great quirks and range to tackle all situations with the build i did in the opening post.

Recently picked up a 5k, having some fun with it, but can't settle with a build I like. Anyone have any luck with a STD engine? Been using builds with both XL and STD.
