What do you guys think of the Executioner going toe to toe with the Dire wolf? Do you think the Executioner has what it takes to dethrone the king of battle? Personally I like it and I can't wait to see the end of dire wolves which litter the battlefield now that they are C-bill purchase

I am hoping that the third wave dominates just as the first wave did.

Nah, it doesn't have the pod space to compare, especially if MASC is fixed. What it will be, however, is more of a specialist. It can bring a lot of armor and a good amount of firepower at high speed and good mobility. In a one-on-one duel, I'd bet on the Executioner. But in-game? Battle situations? Nah, DW will remain the king.

MASC is most definitely fixed, according to the pre-order page specs.

Which is very. Very. Very unfortunate.

Like I said before, 95 tons means you can drop 2x EXE and 2x MLX, so you're gonna see a LOT more Executioner than you ever could have seen Dire Wolf.

Two waves of Gladiator meta will cripple the Inner Sphere, just you wait...

You will probably cook yourself before you pull the trigger due to lack of heatsinks.

Believe it or not, i think that the one u gonna be astonished with is the ShadowCat. ECM in a side torso, flexible weapon hardpoints, jumpjets (though 6 fixed no matter the config u choose, what is a pity), a decent 97kph speed (106 with speed tweak), and 17.5 tons of empty space (taking into account the JJs, ECM, with stock armour).

BJ-1X - Simulation
((The JJs have been simulated with 3DHS (in this weight class, JJ weight 0.5 tons each, so 3DHS=6JJs), ECM adding one more (Clan ECM only weight 1ton) ))

According to the specs, yes, but MASC functionality hasn't even been determined yet. It could become removable for balancing purposes. Nothing about it is really set in stone yet.

I don't HOPE for this to be the case, but some of those omnipods make it look like it very well COULD be the case. Which, I don't care for. Once any 'mech gets too cheesy I start liking it a bit less, and I do like the Cauldron-Born a lot.

Eh, 17.5 tons isn't a lot for a 45-ton chassis. If it was 20 or more, sure, that'd be almost half the chassis' weight. As it is, the CB seems to be the most dangerous 'mech in Wave III.

Its not about weight. Its about to mount the best weapons possible. The ShadowCat can carry an UAC20 or 2xERPPC properly cooled to the battle field, and with ECM.......

I was waiting for the post. I think the Executioner will hold up better than the subject of the last thread, however I don't think it'll be changing the meta.

Bought the Cauldron-Born pack after looking at the Executioner in Sarna. It's able to carry so many weapons because it takes less armor, which means we are all going to have to mod the stock configs to have LESS weapons and more armor. We will not be able to effectively make use of all the energy hardpoints especially since the JJs and MASC are fixed. having MASC will be neat, but we all know that it's going to be gimped as hell due to the nature of the tech. My guess is that you can't fire weapons while using MASC and it has a cooldown or something similar.

It's a huge target that, due to its' size, will not make for a good sniper and as a result is wasting pod space on JJs. It has too little pod space to be a brawler. It's a giant tank trying to make use of its' speed which is like a moving building trying to dodge cannon/laser fire, the combination will not work out.

A mech works well if it has a combination of all elements or goes for all agility/all armor and firepower. I do not have high hopes for the Executioner unfortunately, it has too much speed and not enough pod space for an Assault mech.

The only builds that I can see working well are ML vomit and LL boating, that's about it. If there's a missile boat variant it may work out ok while the ballistic variant is going to be gimped much like the Gargoyles' hardpoint/pod space combos. I really need to play my Gargoyles, speaking of which, but they weren't very satisfying the last time I tried :(

Executioner:

LBX-20
6 ER SL
4 ER ML

I have to give credit to Wingbreaker for that build...

Well, the Executioner will be able to take a dangerous load out. The typical laser vomit Timber Wolf uses 26 tons of weapons and equipment (this is after jump jets are installed). The Executioner will have 25 after increasing the armor, maybe more if you make use of a shield arm. It will also come with an extra DHS. Hard point placement is going to be the deal breaker on that mech, I think. In particular the height of the torso mounted lasers.
