Dear Steiner,

It has come to the attention of several interested parties that the Lyran Commonwealth world of Skye has come under attack by elements of the Free Worlds League military. A quick review of our records indicates that the taking of Skye by the FWL would be a particularly huge blow to the 4 billion inhabitants' assessment of the Skye Rangers and all of their various sub-units.

But perhaps a review of the Free Worlds League's recent military actions is required before proceeding.

In summation:
The Draconis Combine declined membership in the proposed 'nSL' and opted to remove the FWL incursion into their space which they were completely justified in doing. The FWL response was to launch into a full-scale war with the thinly-stretched military of the Draconis Combine, forcing them to pull their military off the clan front lines to protect their interests around the Dieron systems. Why does the Free Worlds League desire to rob the Draconis Combine of their clan defenses by stabbing them in the back?

The Federated Suns opted to buy in to the 'nSL' and have paid with planet after planet ever since. They have lost planets to both the FWL and the Capellan Confederation, both supposed partners in the 'nSL' alliance with nary an apology or attempt made to quell the fighting. What value does the Free Worlds League and the Capellan Confederation see in seizing planets from their neighbors while the real threat drives relentlessly towards Terra?

The Lyran Commonwealth too bought into the idea of the 'nSL' and have only lost more planets to the Free Worlds League and the clans ever since. Not a day goes by that does not see the Lyran Commonwealth lose a planet to CJF, the Wolves, or the Free Worlds League if not all three. What has the Lyran Commonwealth gained by buying into the 'nSL' lie? Does the Free Worlds League think that the capturing of Lyran Commonwealth planets will somehow slow the Clans' drive towards Terra?

The Free Rasalhague Republic stood the most to gain with the formation of a 'nSL' and yet have only lost more planets since the concept was put forth. Promised units and support from the southern Great Houses, the Free Worlds League has only plunged the entire Inner Sphere into greater chaos by perpetuating old conflicts and launching into new ones with the Draconis Combine. While the Free Worlds League expands in every direction, the FRR bleeds. Where is the support and assistance that was promised? Why does the FWL insist on creating conflict across the Inner Sphere while neglecting the clan fronts?

In short, the FWL's championing the idea of a 'New Star League' has proven itself a sham, an apparent bid to gain territory across the Inner Sphere under the guise of 'protecting Terra' from the Clan forces. Since establishing their 'New Star League,' the Inner Sphere has seen an escalation of combat as opposed to a unified response to the Clan invasion.

Members of the Lyran Commonwealth, I can not give you answers to these questions. Only the FWL could potentially explain away their complicity and actions have thus far spoken louder than words. But perhaps the Lyran Commonwealth can answer this one simple question:

Is the Lyran Commonwealth willing to sacrifice the planet Skye, the home world of many of their units, to the Free Worlds League warmongers?

The Inner Sphere awaits your response.

How has this thread received so little attention? Did Steiner just give up on Skye?

The Lyran Commonwealth actually defended Skye and the algorithm switch to another Steiner target for Marik instead. The SRoT website even had a thread about it somewhere the day it was up for attack.

If the algorithm switches back to Skye, I think we might see Steiner focus on defending it once more.

No the Rangers were there and we defended Skye. In fact some would say we fought very hard to protect Skye. Just like we fought hard to protect Summer as well.

I do not speak for Ranger Command however I can say as a Skye Ranger I will never ever leave Skye to be taken without fighting for it.
