I'm building my drop deck, which is currently 3xSCR and a KFX for ECM. I'd like to replace the KFX, because I usually don't get much out of it.

Would it make more sense to get a HBR-Prime with ECM or a TBR (probably S) to go with my SCRs?

I would recommend the HBR. The strongest drop deck for clans right now IMO is 2xHBR and 2xSCR. You can run builds very similar to the TBRs but with ECM on the HBR.

Why not both?

Something you can play around with:
1 TBR, 1 HBR, 1 SCR, 1 IFR (or a light, I'd prefer a mech with JJs)
2 TBR, 1 HBR, 1 MLX
2 TBR, 1 SCR, 1 KFX
1 TBR, 3 SCR
2 HBR, 2 SCR
3 HBR, 1 IFR (or a light, I'd prefer a mech with JJs)

What builds are people using for their Hellbringer? I second the notion that the good/great players are regularly starting games off with the HBR.

I run 2 HBR with 2 ERPPC in the torso targeting computer III (or IV if you prefer) ECM and rest double heatsinks. 13 armor each arm.

You can dump a heat sink for some er smalls if you want in your right arm. but i prefer the extra cool down.

1 8 small pulse 1 large pulse stormcrow and 1 streakcrow (to stop light rushes).

seems to be pretty consistent.

Standard laser vommit 5 mlas one LPL
dual UAC5 and some assortment of mlas.

HBR is my favorite clan heavy currently. I like the Timbe as well but as of now their is no way it can fit in my drop deck cause i usually drop with two stromcrows and two Hellbringers. You are good with both heavies to tell you the truth but i believe the HBR gets the edge because of the ECM and because you can make a nice laser boat with it. I run it with one large pulse in the head, as many med lasers as i can fit and a good amount of heatsinks

3 HBR and 1 IFR, my fav dropdeck by far.

HBR, 6x med laser
HBR 3x med laser, 1 gaus
HBR 3x med laser, 1 lbx20

Which HBR I pick depends on the kind of battle/strategy

2ERLL + 4ERML seems to be pretty nasty for me. I mount the ERLLs in head and LT and it peaks like no other. Plus you can run it in a LH build and use a shield side, and heat is not bad...

- if you want win/

HBR(all ECM) - 4CERLL or 1CLPL+5\6CERML (or 7xCERML, CGAUSS+5CERML)
SCR - 1CLPL+5CERML , 5xCSRM6, 5xCSSRM6+TAG+BAP
TBR - lasers: for example: 4xCERLL, 2CLPL+5CERML, ERPPCs+4CSPL(or CLBX5), for close battle: CLBX20+SRMs or SRMs+CSPLs

DONT USE LRMS !!!

i would never loose my timber wolves from my CW deck, very survivable/good hitboxes, high armor values (462 max vs 422-hbr), jumpjets, high mounted missile, cockpit level mounts.

no mech is as capable as the timber wolf. the only reason the hellbringer comes close, is because of the ECM.

hellbringer boasts ECM, humanoid hitboxes, chest level mounts.

the choice is yours, however i personally heavily suggest the Timber wolf.

Great players don't pilot Clan Mechs.

Some good CW last night but I'm still struggling with the HBR. Has anyone used the MetaMechs Clan Drop Ladder variant? (ECM/6 ERML/Rest DHS)

I had a better game with my ERPPC Mist Lynx than the HBR. I'm doing it wrong, I know.

The 6ERML build is basically a peeking mech to use at about 400-500m or so. It brawls decently well; however, I have other builds I like better.

The 2ERLL + 4ERML is nice, though my current pick for favorite would be the Gauss + ERML build. I spent quite a bit of time last night messing around in group queue and put up 700+ damage 1-3 kill matches with it most of the night...great mech.

HBR Vs TBR? Both are pretty good mechs. I think the stock Prime loadout sucks, MGs are useless, replace the SSRm wiht a standard SRM6 and art, with some more armor and DHS, but HBR is about TBR lvls of good. Its versatile and decent. Playin in Smurfy with it, I can make some builds I would be fine with rolling out in.

I go with 3 Winbringers plus 1 Ice Ferret, which I think is an underestimated mech (killed three mechs one time with the little bugger).

I usually go with the 7 ERMLs, but experimenting with a configuration with 2 ERLL and 3 ERMLs.

The location is important since this allows you to peek over obstacles and not hit the environment. You will need to do omnipod mods for this.

Get the center torso that has an energy hardpoint on the head.
Left Torso with three energy hardpoints.
Arm with two energy hardpoints, along with arm with 1 energy hardpoint.

The final Hellbringer is hybrid.

With 45 tons left after three hellbringers, you can put in an Ice Ferret, which can be configured either as a laser boat (4 ERMLs, or 2 ERLLs), SRM or stream boat, or a combination. When the Shadowcat comes, this will fill the slot.

My go to HBR build that out damages my TBR brawler....

3 ER MED + 2 U/AC 5

The high mounted torso hardpoints make this mech. If I run out of U/AC ammo I usually have done 800-1000 damage. I find the HBR an incredibly tanky and solid mech.
