so apparently hawken might be revived again. There were recent posts on their facebook page they were going to restore it. I'm very happy and exited. There is always room for more mech games (especially seeing how few there are)

So it didn't work the first time, and it didn't work the second time, but the third time will be different.

Right?

I didn't even know it was canceled. Never played it. The game looked nice, the maps provided a nice atmosphere and some of the game modes looked fun but I have to agree With Marack, it was more FPS than a mech game.

It was never officially canceled.

Just, you know, the publishers folded, the devs moved to different companies, the designers made games about Santa, and so on. So it totally wasn't canceled.

It would have been very humiliating if their 40 million dollar indie project had gotten canned like that.

Well if they balance it so that the sniper type weapons are not the only worth while weapon it might be interesting.

The only really mech part of Hawken are the heavy mechs that can turtle into a turret.

We all know the problem of Hawken is similar to Titanfall. People who expect mech games don't expect FPS games, which is a saturated category on its own.

But there are quite a few things that MWO can sure learn from Hawken.

Awesome urban maps.

Picking a really good game engine that delivers fantastic graphics at a high frame rate.

Mechs are ugly, but they are really trying to deliberately create a statement there as they complement the dystopian decaying theme of the environment.

Really scifi - tech feel, like the interface in the cockpits, the way the repair drones fly and do their job, turrets and force shields you can drop, a massive ship rising to the sky, the enemy drones in the air.

Great animation on the mechs, like the way they walk, run, boost. They feel like they are alive. The mech animations on MWO is just plain awful.

Truly cinematic production values.

Hmm, well will G1 also be the publisher then? Or will Reloaded games develop hawken under another publisher?

Wonder if it really will help the game, its still just another running and gunning shooter in robot skins, and I doubt these core mechanics will change at all.

Even now, Hawken has to regain a lot of its former momentum, and I am just pessimistic about it unless they can port Hawken to the PS4 and the XBox One.

That would be the most logical solution, but what would draw people to those platforms over Titanfall? Which is having a hard enough time surviving on its own, with no console mech competition?

Titanfall doesn't have much of a content, and at this point, Titanfall isn't going further. At least with Hawken you still have much of a variety. Plus even as a shooter, Hawken has pretty unique attributes, like boost, invisibility, missiles, turreting, which actually makes it more mech like than the suits in Titanfall. Hawken is also pure mech, it doesn't have a human FPS mode. Hawken has some great game modes, like Siege and the Missile Base, which in the first, you have this giant starship rising once you collected the energy for it, and the other team has to shoot it down.

they (G1 and RP) are porting APB to consoles atm, maybe they go generally more into console direction. So with luck its maybe on the list to do.

imho Titanfall is way worse than Hawken. TF was overhyped visual mechporn without susbtance behind this.

Neither of the current consoles support their ancient unreal 3 engine. Odds of hawken on console: 0%.

It was never more than an FPS. You have that right.

reloaded productions is currently upgrading APB's engine to the latest Unreal 3 version and then releasing it to X1 and PS4.

Chances are good that they do this with hawken as well.

I'm shocked. That game got old really fast and that was while the devs were still working on it!
