All said, though, I have heard grumblings from DC that CSJ really enjoy rushing objectives with Ice Ferrets and JFP has on a few occasions made use of massed Mist Lynxes for the lulz of it.

I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but a few clans do. I do CW to make money, though I do understand the need to quickly take sectors.

@OP
I run:
2xHBR 2xSCR - Invasion Attack
3xSCR (Streaks) 1xHBR/TBR - Invasion Defense

Well, there are plenty of options to choose from.
I will suggest not setting your sights on a singular drop deck for all situations though, as the different maps in CW have different suitable play styles (ie. Boreal is a long range map versus Sulphurous which is close range).

If you really like using the Timber Wolf, you can go 2x TBR, 1x HBR, 1x Mist Lynx. <--This deck has benefits in that all four mechs support builds for short, medium, and long range engagements.

There's the TBR + 3x Stormcrows. <---This is a good deck for fast-paced drops, with that one heavy when you need some extra oomph.

You can choose other splits depending on your skill and comfort with other mechs. I know some people who put respectable numbers out in Adders, Ice Ferrets, etc as well.
Whatever you do though, DO NOT bring assaults for an attack drop. They are functional on defence, but for attack you and your team cannot afford to be waiting for an assault to meander its way to the objective at a snails pace.

At first I wasn't a big fan of the stormcrow, but after piloting one for few months I am now a convert.

I like the 2x TBR, 1 HBR, 1 MLX that The Phigment mentioned above.

My thoughts on the MLX is that I should definitely go with the PPC ECM build, stick close to my team and take any opportune snipe shots. There is also a decent SRM, ErMlas with ECM build I have for the lynx which is obviously short range. Should I just count on using the MLX as a long range ECM support or what?

Also, should I expect any sales to come up for the clan mechs? I've been getting back into MWO for the past couple of weeks now, and have missed out on any promotions they may have offered since...about Nov of last year. This requires a lot of mechs I don't own.

And thats why I find the CW so boring...bring two of the same mech, or three?
over and over, two pairs. In order to be competitive you run the same thing everyone does, namely two HB's and two SC's...aint nobody got time for dat
I'm going to grind this weekend for the goodies, and to see how much it has changed since January.

The ugly truth is that Mist Lynxes, Ice Ferrets, and Dire Wolves are undesirable in Community Warfare.

Are you playing in a unit? With 4 Mist Lynx we jump the gate and kill all generators while the rest of our team distracts on the other side. When the gates are already open you can do the same with 4 Ice Ferrets. And Dire Whales a perfect at suppressing laser vomit ..

A very helpful loadout for the Mist Lynx in CW as a spotter (ML+2SPL+NARC): http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0ae79707e222dfc

Oh, trust me, we got the Mist Lynx thing down! You can check out the video I posted on the first page. We can also use them for gen rushes, but that's not terribly complicated.

Just keep the MLX-B as is. The srms can tear through a generator in record time. While the rest of your team goes for one gen, go for the opposite gen alone.

For what its worth, I'm liken' two Ferrets and two T-Wolves now.
Sub-ed one Hellbringer and Mist Lynx 'til I unlocked Elite on the Furries.

So I have one Ferret as an ERPPCer, with a CT-ERML as backup. The other has a mix of ERML and Streaks to taste.

Then I take two Timbers that each carry 2 LPLs and some mix of lasers with ranges below 205 M or so. The idea is to have DHS boats! With Torsos maxed to above 60+ each!

I'm rather tempted to try a Gauss and a few ERMLs, but meh maybe some day!

Personally I just drop in whichever mechs feel most comfortable for me. The meta builds don't work for everyone.

I'm here to win games AND have fun. :)

Timbers and Stormcrows are the good ones, Hellbringer for ECM.
Timberwolf is a 75 ton mech that can fight 85 ton mechs on even terms.
Stormcrow is a 55 ton mech capable of fighting 60 ton mechs on even terms.

TBR SCR SCR SCR is an all round deck that hits much harder than it should for its tonnage.
TBR TBR HBR MLX if you like Timbers.

TBR/TBR/HBR/MLX

great source of info

I dont agree with all his suggestions, but it was a better start than info I found here...oddly enough

I ran that for a while.

Opened with the Hellbringer then used the Timbers. I'd have the Mist Lynx as my last or it'd be the first for a gen rush.

The 2 good decks right now are HBR/HBR/SCR/SCR and SCR/SCR/SCR/TBR. If you really want to avoid using the SCR then i guess ADR or KFX plus two Hellbringers and a Timby might work out, but its suboptimal because basically clans dont have a sub 55 ton mech that isnt a complete joke right now.

Itll change when we get the Cheater and SCat, they will both be viable choices, allowing LOADS of variations on good drop decks, especially with the Ebon Jaguar looking decent at 65 tons as well. I might well be doing something like SCat/SCR/EBJ/TBR just so i can have 4 Prime (i) mechs in one deck

pretty much what Widowmaker said.

HBR/HBR/SCR/SCR replaced my TBR/SCR/SCR/SCR.

SCR builds are the same from page 1
HBR build is this http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f781b81f3c82265

HBR/HBR/HBR/SDC (shadow cat ;P)
will very likely become the get to go dropdeck (i'm looking forward to it)

My SCRs are picking fights with absolut everything from 20 ton locust to 100 ton atlas.
The TBR is so stupidly agile that it can track down 170 kph mechs with ease besides being able to outgun almost every IS assault. A shame that it can't protect it's CT (expect from bunnyhopping ofc)

pffft, BULL...theres.......theres the.........

wait....no, you could ru........no....

...ok... I got nothing

I run my HBR (may rebuy another one) with ecm and four ERLL's.
its my opener, followed by long to medium timber, a short to medium timber and that POS mistlinks thing

I am seriously rethinking and going with HBR/HBR/SCR/SCR however.
Next weekend will tell if I'm still going to stick around in CW, or its back to what drove me off in the first place

At the beginning I started with the classic 3 crows+timber, but I found these 2 drops more confortable:

1) 2 timber + hellbringer + Lynx
or
2 ) 2hellbringer + 2crows (when dropping defending vs IS, streakcrow is good)

For CW, I am a fan of a QUad-ERLLas ECM Hellbringer as an opening play. Always bring a Streak SRM Stormcrow for an inevitable lightrush when defending, though on offense an ERLLas or an A-SRM30 version can be useful. That leaves you with 120 tons left over to play with, which I tailor based on the map. I actually enjoy my Warhawk with 2xERPPC, Gauss, 2xSRM4 for a defense on congested maps because as soon as they expose themselves I chunk them for 35 pinpoint, and if they rush I just splatter them, however on offense having more ECM is powerful, so I usually toss in a second Hellbringer.
