I would be willing to do a list of trials for IS as well...but any thoughts or ideas regarding these builds. I tried to stay with something pretty heat efficient with a bit of punch. A lot of these are starter builds we give to the new players who join our unit (with some modification to remain with stock omnipods) and they seem to have quite a bit of success with them.

Some mechs along these lines would help newer players out quite a bit.

The Shadowhawk we have now is actually a community created and voted on build.

The trial mechs are also not meant to always reflect the current meta, which is constantly changing. They are meant to learn the game with. To learn how the weapons function, learn about mech movement, how to much heat is a problem and several other things.

And don't neglect the fact that not everyone wants to play current meta mechs, just because they are the "hype" with the competetive teams.

The 3ERLL Shawk has been good for quite a while, especially since the removal of ghost heat from LLs.

The CTF build I posted is a ballistic/energy build that suits the strengths of the mech far more than the current build does.

The HBR Prime build is a good build that is actually not really even meta, but it is a ton of fun and runs pretty cool. It is similar to the 5SS pulse boat...maybe that is why it is such fun to play...either way...would certainly help.

As for the Shawk being a community made and voted on mech...when and where did that occur? So far as I know...that "community" was just the NGNG guys. That does not really count as community.

No one wants to see a better new player experience with mechs that are more relevant to the current game, and give them a better opportunity to contribute in any match?

I really think this is a major issue.

While I don't think this a major issue on the list of things PGI needs to change in the game, I think there are already several threads about similar topics. I think there isn't much to bother about though because the more players realise that there are issues with the current f2p marketing setup, the more likely will PGI do something about the issue or has already started fixing it. Not much to worry about here though.

What might help is rotating the trial mechs more often. Just a thought.

It would not really be necessary to rotate more often if the trials did not suck as bad.
