A lot of people go try to fight the clans but are beaten due to being outranged. They deal less damage while the clans deal near maximum damage when engaging in CW. For those who want to continue the long range engagement there are a couple of mechs that stand out which allow you to fight them beyond 800m without losing any damage.

The BLR-1S (4 energy hardpoints, high mount, +25% energy range) and the Raven-4X (2 energy hardpoints, high mount, jump jets, +30% energy range) along with the ER Large Laser Range module will allow you to fight back with superior range (being 911m and 945m respectively).

There are other mechs such as the QKD-IV4, CDA-X5, COM-1D, LCT-1M, TDR-5SS, HBK-GI which also have +20%-+25% energy weapon range quirks. There are also mechs such as the BJ-1DC, DRG-1C, AWS-8V, ON1-P and HBK-4G have +15% energy range which pretty much puts your ER Large Laser range on par (though you still do less damage) with Clan ER Large Laser ranges.

You can go to http://snafets.de/mwo/quirks.htm and just look for which mechs have the +15%-+30% energy range bonuses and maybe some heat reduction and duration reduction if you want to add some long range mechs to your IS CW deck.

It's kinda fun dealing 36 damage at 911m with the BLR-1S and hitting people all the way across the Alpine map. You can even bring 2x BLR-1S (170 tons) and 2x RVN-4X (70 tons) for a total of a 240 ton drop deck though I think you might want some other things in there too. We do get lower burn times in exchange for less damage so it might even out if you twist or duck fast enough.

If we're just going to fight with ERLL all day might as well do it right.
