Been thinking about this all weekend. PGI, has some things up their sleeve. I think they wanted to see what would happen if every player (or most) got onto CW. What do you think they are attempting with this weekends event?

Personally I think PGI learned they can rebalance CW simply by making all players play. Gives them insight into our communities. (Spoiler I'm reading into this via the planets gained from IS.

I don't think any truly meaningful data was gleaned.

Whenever a "Point Event" weekend happens, you end up with huge number of point farmers/suicide rushers in match. Thus, when players play only to get their 80 pts, then suicide rush to get into the next match and get their next 80 score, it totally skews data and the actual game.

It happens every single event, with people just rushing to get their match points and such.

The other thing CW shows, mostly is which side has the most teams dropping at that point in time.

Multiple reasons I can guess.

1) Get players into CW (advertise it).
2) Collect stats on CW wins/losses (IS vs Clan comparison).
3) Load tests

They just wanted to throw the CW players a bone with an event because people some players were asking for a cw event.

Its a decent CW event. Pretty Easy. Got me thinking more seriously about CW.

Mission accomplished. I would imagine more than a few public-queue peoples got interested in the game mode. Personally, enjoyed dropping with my small unit. Got a metric arse-load of videos recorded of it too.

You can't suicide rush in clan war, you're locked out for the full duration.

You won't get the defend/attack button if you have mechs in a CW drop, only the same planet, and only rejoin are the options.

...which is a good thing really

Yes, I do have multiple drop decks.

Just having enough folks in Que to dilute the big teams that have the Meta/gameplay memorized and their fan boy sheep in stock loadouts. I have zero problems with folks being good, but there has to be something between steam roll and ranged derp. This weekend had enough players to fill in that gap to a degree. I did get plenty of the the first 2, but with shorter waits and a broader range of skills I also had more than a few really fun games. Sorry if I am trying to see the half full glass.

If nothing else they have been trying to gauge the stress level it would have on the servers.

Wait really? I thought you could do a whole new drop if you left your previous one? Or was that only working when matches bugged out?

Event was a non-event for me. Didn't play one single CW drop.

CW stats aren't tracked.

.......and out of 10 or 12 solo drops I lost one.

I was almost as bad. I had a busy weekend hanging out with my wife and friends. But I did get in a few matches and won more than lost even if I only scored one 80 point game.

Which is a damn shame, because my Panther 9R did phenomenally well in CW, exceeding all expectations.

Save for that one match were I yolo'd in to spur my team onward into the breech...leading to victory!

You lead the charge in a Panther? I hope the assaults on your team that wave learned a lesson in Bushido.

I don't particularly enjoy CW in its current form, but I am planning to finish the event today. I think PGI just wanted to get more data on CW in general so they can work on some changes.
