Have you looked at it? It has the surface area of three medium mechs combined.

you are doing it wrong? Sry can't give you any specific tips, but play like 60+ matches or 100+ and get sued to its behavior, otherwise you clearly die a lot and fats by not beign used to it, making small but very deciding mistakes.

We all have been through this.

We understand your pain. But the pain will fade away.

The bitterness will not.

Hyperbole, activate!

Unless you are walking out in front of half the enemy team, then YES, they will kill you in 2-3 seconds. Especially an awesome. Easy to hit.

Awesome may be an assault mech, but it's definitely more of a 2nd line, support mech. As soon as someone looks at you, get the hell outta there and come back when they're looking at someone else. Torso twist is also imperative on your way out.

Commandment #1: Do not let them hit the same part of your mech over and over again.

There you go, buddy.

You should have played them before the hitbox fix and quirks.....

I am quite fond of the Awesome and when I take mine out I do fairly well. But don't get discouraged, at least get to Speed Tweak before you decide to jump.

which is sad, as the AWS is supposed to be a line holder, notorious for it's thick hide, and feared for it's triple PPC punch.

Sadly, we don't have THAT Awesome. (Though I do love how this version looks)

Having gotten an 8R and 8Q, saving my space bucks for the 9M, I can say, twisting and being in the middle of the pack is your best option. I even did something silly, and run mine in the colours of the Davion Guards, so they stand out, like a lot.

But twist, cram in a 300 Standard engine, and then stuff it full of as many DHS as you can, then go to town in the second line!

Well in all fairness, if we were take the right steps towards that PPC punch from TT, she would need 6 PPC's due to double armour and all that, then she could be rightly feared again.

It's way too fat. PGI put that thing on a treadmill for a month at least. But seriously, it needs to be thinned. I recommend that PGI reworks it to be around the dimensions of the Zeus in-game model.

I remember how the Awesome was when it came out in closed beta.

First of all, the forums talked about how it would obsolete the Catapult for LRM support. Little did we see years later both are largely ignored (missile heavy Cat variants anyway).

Awesome were also used to charge and brawl. I remember Awesome with huge engines running in weapons blazing. They were relatively fast and at the time fairly well armored. Remember, your heavies were Dragons and Catapults at the time (no Cataphracts or Jagers yet). I used to hate seeing a quick awesome running in, I was like...CRAP!

How the years, lots of new mechs, and continual power creep destroyed that CB Awesome.

Memories...

Front load the armor. Dont stand still. Stay near cover. Carry AMS if you can.

I have not seen one decent Awsome pilot ever. Im sure theres one out there somewhere, but I havnt seen one that used cover, used firepower etc to do well yet. Maybe just missed it, not being in spectator or what not, but thats the truth.

I have seen a good Gargoyle pilot so maybe its possible with the Awsome to. Yes I know the Awsome is an even larger and slower target but you know what I mean.

Good luck.

I'd be more scared of its triple PPC punch if it was able to do that more than once per 20 seconds.
RIP PPCs :<

PS: I'd probably fear it more if the majority of 'Mechs on the battlefield weren't packing bigger hitscan punches >_>

Remember when folks would max the engine and just run a large laser and some mediums? Brawling with the awesome because the only threat was an atlas.....

You can do 'ok' in pug matches with an awesome if you can catch an enemy focusing on someone else. Otherwise it is too big and the weapons are too low to really snipe with and you are a medium sized target even at 500m.

It needs to be the laserboat version of the zeus.

I have all the Awesomes except for the 8V.

I acknowledge the width of its torso as a distinct weakness.

I try to play to its role as a support mech.

I use the speed and quirks of the 9M to play as the IS version of the Peace dove

The 8R is one of the best missile mechs

The 8T allows for interestingly the IS version of the Mad Cat (I know I'm mad)

It's not the most awesome mech, but it works fine.

Separately, with the grasshopper and the Awesome in the game, having another energy boat in the form of black knight is no fun. We need something interesting like exterminator (390XL!) or war dog (ECM) or hammerhands (homage to unseen war hammer) as the next heavy.

That is the problem with it, you have to find the same amount of cover that an Atlas has. You have to basically be a buddy to another assault that is willing to be the point man for your duo and then hit whatever he is hitting.

I think we found something we both agree on there Johnny.

I'd like them to use this as the base for a Warhammer:
