How Do You Benchmark?

i see people post their benchmarks like

how do you get this benchmark? a 3rd party program?

The guys are using FRAPS, but there's something about using the crippled/ free version, IIRC, where you only get a one minute sample size.

I use HWiNFO64, which can read FRAPS (and is supposed to read MSI Afterburner) into it's log; Viewed with GenericLogViewer, I get stuff like

AFAIK, the free version of FRAPS allows the benchmark time limit to be changed. I've had full FRAPS since like... a decade ago or so. I am not particularly interested in anything other than min, max, avg, and frame times so I've pretty much dismissed the other options for my uses.

Yeppers... I believe wired is correct, you can change the bench time frame in seconds with the free versions. You can not however change the record time in the free version when making a video of your game with the free version.
