Only thing that will work well is a Splitfish. Use the Splitfish for analog movement and a normal gaming mouse to aim.

No idea how well xbox 360 mapping programs work for mwo but I know the one for my logitech gamepad should be able to map the controls but I dont know how well a analog stick would do vs the mouse aim we have in mwo.

Anyway

I use a razer nostromo

and a razer naga

Every button you see including the 8way dpad/analog nub can be programmed for use in mwo

Controllers for the most part, are useless.

If they wern't, I'd be using my Saitek X52pro HOTAS setup... insteady it just sits here...longing the ability to be utilized well in my favorite mech game... relegated to space sims, flight sims, and older MW titles...

it was a sad, sad day, when I discovered just how bad the controls are in this game for joysticks... a sad day indeed.

This always throws me off:

Razer Synapse registration (requiring a valid e-mail), software download, license acceptance, and internet connection needed to activate full features of product and for software updates. After activation, full features are available in optional offline mode.

And so I use this instead:

I don't use special things. Just a mouse and keyboard. The only thing that is special is the mouse called trackman..

If you don't use a mouse or similar device for aiming, you are handicapping yourself.

yeah the original keymapping software for the naga was so outdated and 100% trash but they eventually upgraded it to the razer synapse 2.0 program which is kinda fantastic, you can swap profiles for each device as well as change settings such as dpi/acceleration and lightning as well as recording/creating macros with specific keypresses and millisecond delays and such but i run lights not dakka fatties so I dont use macros. as for the email thats for storing/syncing your profiles online and as for the internet connection thats kinda obvious for storing the profiles in the online backup.

Sadly controllers are npwhere good enough to be in amoung the greats.

I simply have to use a controller, as I'm left handed and have arthritus extremely badly, so small movements on a mouse key pad are a painful option for me.

Best I've found is the Thrustmaster Hotas.

Its got enough buttons on it for ease of use, and it hasn't stopped me getting 1200k damage games, 7 kill games ( yus i'm still short of Ace of Spades)

your not going to be a long range gauss sniper with it, but you can make the joystick as lose or as tight as you need, with a knurled screw underneath, and the death zone and sensitivity can be ajusted in game.

you'll find if you have a system that can keep above 40fps that joysticks will work and you can adapt and be good with a a throttle and stick, but your never going to be a great player.

Oh and don't worry if you don't get ace of spades, its rare I don't play alot better than people I see in game with the title, its not often that one with seriously out performs me, in PUG's so don't use it as a bench mark and i'm using a stick and throttle ;)

Does anyone know if someone sells a right-handed version of something like the G13 or Nostromo?

The only wireless gaming mouse on the market, that can be used with both hands. And you have to use that sh!tty synapse 2.0, too.

Sad days.

Learning curve is steep enough that I'm still better with mouse and keyboard, but sometimes I use this nutty setup-

Left hand:
Posted Image
Utility buttons (night vision, thermals, targeting, etc.) and turning legs left/right. Closest thing to an ambidextrous flight stick I could find on a budget.

Right hand:
Posted Image
Aiming, weapons. Kinda...not at all classy, but once I removed that plate with the numbers on it I found it to be quite comfortable. Settled on this mouse after TWO Logitech G-series mice failed on me due to arriving with cord defects.

Feet:
Posted Image
Left toe brake for jump jets, right toe brake for gas pedal-style throttle.

The only part that gives an actual advantage is the 'gas pedal' as it allows precise throttle changes at a rate in excess of what W and S do. Pretty useful in mechs that can accelerate very quickly.

Actually, I'm not a lefty. I just want to have G13/Nostromo-like devices on both hands. :D

And by the way, I haven't used a mouse in ages. I use only trackballs on the right hand, even while gaming. As such a right-handed G13 will become a force multiplier. :P
