As someone who grew up on the original trilogy, almost named his son Anakin, has a huge collection of Star Wars memorabilia, and a Boba Fett tattoo, I watched it twice and just felt...empty. The spark wasn't there for me. When i saw the Episode I teaser so many years ago I got chills and a tear in my eye because Star wars, a giant piece of my childhood, was back. I actually was looking forward to this teaser; However, it did nothing to stir me. It felt to crisp. too glossy. It was star Wars, but without the magic to me. Sure all the elements were there, but I don't know. Nothing made it feel that glee that the prequels, even as bad as they were depending on opinion, made me feel. I get more excited watching the Age of Ultron trailers then I did this new Star Wars one. To each his own though. Personally, "I have a bad feeling about this".

I think it's called "getting older" ;)
Let's face it, the original SW films aren't that good if you look at them objectively. The thing is, they came out in a time when this kind of movie could reach the audience. It was new, exciting and it gave people something that hadn't been there yet.
When we look back now on those movies, we do it with a lot of nostalgia and fond memories.
I'm pretty sure, no matter how hard someone would try, it would be impossible to capture the "magic" of the first trilogy. You have to be realistic about this. A new movie will be a heap of special effects set in the SW setting, nothing more. And the original movies were exactly that. But at their time, this was something new for us, something that marked our childhood.
So don't expect the new movie to be "as good" as the old ones. It won't be. It can't be.

Edit: To clarify - the old movies are good movies, they are just nothing special today. They were. But they aren't any longer. If they came out today, most people would only say "meh". Even hardcore SW-fans, I'm pretty sure.

I do. I really do.
It feels exactly like a modern Star Wars. Not the Marvel/Transformers/Michael Bay kind of "too much", just the well known "Star Wars" feeling with a new vibe to it.

I really like it

I am with you on that one. :D

I know some people may not like it, but not everyone can or will, nor do they have to. Such is life, and, as I always say, "Different strokes for different blokes".
The content in the teaser may be too much or too little for some, but for me it is just right. (Plus Harrison Ford being in it? F*** yeah!)

That's exactly why I don't feel it, I'm getting a "New New Hope" vibe from it. Maybe I should relax and enjoy it for what it is.

Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, is going to be in the next Star Wars movie. The only concern I have is will there be a final meeting between Han Solo and Fett, as portrayed in the books.

A lot of the original cast is coming back.

Mark Hamil, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, and Peter Mayhew will all be reprising their rolls.

With JJ Abrams at the helm, you can probably expect to see a lot of lens flare too.

There is a thread titled "The new star wars 7 teaser is out" at the very top of this sub-forum and you have to make another one? You even already posted in it, three minutes before you made this thread.

Sorry, but this is pure spamming!

Seems like there was a thread merge. My lines don't apply anymore.
Wow merging is finally working. Why wasn't it possible during my time?

And it gets even better.

Holy moly.
If they actually gave DICE the time to work on this baby for 2+ years, this game will be a blast.

I hope so, i truly hope so.

I read some things in an article from a journalist who was present at a closed presentation some worrying things.. Things like detonators having recharge bars instead of ammo!

And mark my words here.. It may have the most astounding graphics i have ever seen, but if it has no space battles, i will rather find an old copy of Battlefront 2.

It's EA, and it's a shooter game. It is 90% guaranteed to be a cash grab with 1 year of development time, just like Call of Duty and the more recent Battlefields.

Also expect over-priced DLCs and lots of them.

But... I hope nonetheless, as I loved both Battlefront games despite not really being a SW fan.

Also - If it has regenerating health I'm out.

I actually still have my original copy for the Xbox... I still play it time to time.

Its sad that such old games hold up so much better than most of today's titles.
