TLDR CW Guide

Should I play CW as a solo? You can but it is the worst way to play this mode. If you hunt around there are all kinds of groups playing on ts3. Many allow anyone to play even if they are totally new, especially on faction hubs.

Where do I get TS info? Various units have TS information posted in the faction subforums and recruiting threads...

(such as the hiring hall). https://mwomercs.com...94-hiring-hall/

Here as an example where the FRR subforum has its own thread showing how to get on their ts3.
https://mwomercs.com...-hub-ts-server/

A TS3 server which is used by some CW units is..
Comstar NA: na1.mech-connect.net

What is the average damage in CW? In past iterations of CW the global average damage has been 960..

Why is it important to know what the average damage is? Once you are reaching ~1000 damage, other people dont have to carry you anymore. Also, damage is VERY colinear to things like assists, kills, and even winning itself. So you want to set a goal to reach ~1000 damage on a regular basis and then continue working from there.

I am doing terrible almost every game, what can I do to fix this? Go for low hanging fruit first. Try to find some good builds and look for players to group up with regularly. Pay attention to end of round screens to see who is doing well. Follow players during combat that you have seen do well and see what kinds of builds they use. If you are still having trouble try playing with different group of people to see if that helps.

What are some examples of Mechs to bring to CW?
Inner Sphere 265 tons
WHM-6R, WHM-6D, WHM-6D, & 55tonner such as a GRF-2N or a SHD-2H/2K
BLR-2C, GHR-5P, GHR-5H, CDA

Clan 240 tons
Hellbringer-Hellbringer-Hellbringer-Ice Ferret or Shadow Cat
Timber-Hellbringer-Hellbringer-JennerIIC
Night Gyr-Ebon-Ebon-JennerIIC

Use LRMs boats? Short answer....no. Long answer....1 mech in your deck max and not an assault mech.

Should I super frontload my dropdecks leaving my last mech or last two mechs as Myst Lynxs and Locusts? No.

How much rear armor? 4 or less.

Love the work you do Kin3ticX and when I hear someone is new to MWO I send them a link to your guide. Keep up the great work, it's people like you who improve this community and make me keep coming back for more.

Thank you for sharing this documentation. I would like to know if you would allow unit websites to link to your documentation?

Maybe....my lore knowledge is kinda weak. Do you think all http://mwomercs.com/game/factions this stuff is new? PGI did mention they were going to overhaul their knowledge base. I will make another pass at it and see what I can do.

Probably telling tales out of school, but if you've ever wondered how the better units work together and are generally so effective (especially in CW), Kin3ticX is basically giving you the road map here.

Read it and live it.

Can a moderator sticky this if they deem it worthy? Who is the moderator in these parts? Do I need to go straight to Tina? If someone with connections reads this can you pull levers?

this needs to be stickied. like the pugs, organized units are also tired of stomping them. we want it to be the competitive mode of MWO after all with phase 3 to matter to units.

Someone might want to consider a "crash course" guide that doesn't have long powerpoints with walls of text. No offence, this is a very good source. Very detailed, but maybe we could use something the regular mechwarrior player can read through when starting CW and know what mechs to build and stuff. I know there's a lot of info out there spread among many sites, but strangely there isn't anything consolidated on these forums.

Page 59 and 60 deserve their own thread I think, or at least their own post. I love the idea of a CW guide, but I feel like this thread isn't getting the attention it deserves. If it was, I wouldn't see half of the things I see in CW. What we need is those tidbits front and foremost so that PUGs (and even new unit mates) are at least on the same page and people can depend on their teammate at least having a viable load out.

edit: in the vain of presenting the info in this guide, I think I'll link this thread in my sig for the time being.
