I want to toggle on the discussion about the often mentioned two career (IS and Clan) system per player account.

And even want to go one step further and propose a three career system per player account:
IS career (inlcuding option to join an IS unit)
Clan career (including option to join a Clan unit)
Solaris VII career (including option to join a Solaris VII stable)

Pros:
Players who own Clan and IS packages can make use of all their mechs
The competitive players have an own slot to use mixed tech setups in Solaris VII leagues once we get them in MWO
Tukayyid would work more smooth

Cons:
none?

I think it would be cool if they allowed us to own Pilots, each pilot may be in different faction or something.

We can customize each pilot's looks and pilot/gunning skills and level them up etc.

Alas character development (in an MMO game, no less) is a lostech. :(

I wouldn't mind having multiple careers per account. It would make it easier to faction hop to get all of the faction achievements and rewards.

I don't see the problem with this at all and it would add a lot to the game. Should have been done way before CW though, not likely to get anything along these lines due to resource allocation and PGI being hard headed when it comes to community suggestion.

Would be better to have 'characters' with their own factions than forcing players to have 2 accounts.

Agree with OP. Take a page out of Lotro. You can play a regular player character, or play a Monster Play (Creep) character such as a Orc, Warg or Urai-kai...all on the same account.

This is a great idea. Allow us to be able to play both IS and Clan...yes allow us to have two different contracts.

Why would I buy a pilot for my mechs? That's what I exist for. I didn't buy these mechs to have someone else drive them!

Ah, but you're also somehow a singular pilot that owns a company+ worth of 'Mechs. That doesn't make much sense either. :P

The whole purpose would be to add increased depth and possibly even RP elements for those that care, while also providing an avenue for being able to play multiple factions fairly.

dunno, thats not a real tree, its just again only unlocking. and in case balance crews a wepaon on a mech, you need to be able to change stuff.

actually the mechlab should be able to allow us to adjust our mechs performance dependign on how often we already used a weapon system, stuff like:

srm's: adjustable from: +10%spread +10%velocity to -10%spread -10% velocity.
lasers: +x% range +x% burntime to -X% range -X% burntime.
C-AC's +X% heat. -X% shot duration, to -X% heat -X% shot duration.

because together with the pilots experience he can find small inacuuracies in a mechs normal factory build and optimises his mech together witt he techs. And so everytime before a mission you cna adjust, by either programming stuff in yoru mech or just changign some setting in the mechs hardware to a more desired degree.

At the end of the day I think it would mostly be another grind mechanic to monetize, in which case PGI just might pick it up...
