In this containing gameplay footage...http://www.pcgamer.c...nlines-new-map/ I could not help but notice on the destruction of a mech it said <name> killed <name>.

If our pilots NEVER die, should it not read <name> destroyed <name> mech ?

Just an observation. :)

I would prefer the "destroyed" above the "killed" since our pilots never die. :P

As long as may name is first in the line, they can say whatever they want.

Yeah I'd agree with Dirk, but I don't see the pilot ejecting from the mech, so he's probably melted across the cockpit.

Also, it sounds like they got GabeN to narrate that video.

I would guess the pilot had his insides spread over the cockpit and thus his death announced. If he had ejected, I would assume that it would say his Mech was destroyed. Not sure about it though.

There's a topic about making pilots for the player, so the pilots would die, and the player would start another.
As I said there, I never understood why you would eject, since you cannot die and that would give you a reason. But I'm not sure if I would a list of names under my Nickname.
I really can't see a perfect answer for that right now. =\

So, "Kottonmouth got killed by XY" would be fine then? :)

A system could be implemented so that if you eject from your Mech before you get pasted across the displays you only recieve a percentage of the end of match bonus (50% or whatever). Whereas if you choose to eject and save yourself you will recieve a larger percentage of the match bonus(Say 75%), and obviously if you survive you would recieve the full bonus. This would then alter the "killed" or "destroyed", i like the "Scapped" idea (Xandre Blackheart) but only if the Mechs reactor doesn't go into overload (again bonus for destroying?)

This would mean if you we're under fire you would have to make the choice whether you want to eject to get the end of match bonus (i would personally only do this if i was getting pasted early on, so i still got a larger bonus at the end) or risk the bonus and pit your piloting skills agaisnt your enemy in a last ditch effort to save yourself. I believe that ejecting should always be a choice, its a part of the game and its strange to say but i always found a strange sense of gratification in previous MW or MC games when the enemy pilot didn't eject :)

Just on a off topic, i think bonuses for your entire lance surviving the battle would be a cool way to encourage teamplay between players. It could nudge players to sticking with and helping the lancemates more.

This, I understand. :P

And I was wondering how it may affect the games rating.

What about "X was decimated by Y"? That could work.

Decimated actually means "reduced by 1/10th". It's from the Latin term for one of the most extreme punishments for a rebelling legion. 1 in every 10 men were summarily executed.

If you decimated a single human it would be far more gruesome I suppose, since it means you removed 1/10th of their body.

"John Smith" Eliminated by "John Doe" using "John Doe Custom1"

I'd like it to list the name of the custom variant you were killed by.

I'm not absolutely sure about it, but isn't Kill the right word.
How was the kill of a enemy aircraft was named in ww1 or ww2? I believe the behaviour of mech warriors must be similar to the fighter pilots of this time.

I was searching for an answer and found aerial victories:

Hm: X achieved victory over Y doesn't sound right.

However destroyed isn't correct too. A mech is destroyed when there is hardly anything left for salvage - complete destruction of the torso through reactor overload or ammunition explosion. Most mechs will be disabled through , gyroscop hits, destroyed legs or even safety systems shutting down the fusion reactor...

I don't see why my friend May should automatically get kills, she might not even be playing! I think this would work better if it was MY name. :)

The danger of typing on a TV screen across the room. Thank you for pointing out my error in such lighthearted a manner.
