The jump velocity now is a meager ~14kph, if the mech was stopped.

If the mech already has speed when jumping, then the velocity is whatever was the speed on the ground when the mech jumped.

The suggestion is: 8 JJ spider? jumps at 80 kph. 4 JJ catapult? jumps at 40 kph

Come on, PGI! We are talking about 31st century! 2 sec burn lasers?!?! put them ever burning, while the heat allows (this could be forever). Ballistics with rounds?? put the fusion engine to propel the slug!

And jump jets give the mech speed on the air on BT.

PS: Has anyone thrown something out of a moving car's window? It decelerates considerably fast. Just like a flying mech should do.

More jumping like crazy even-faster lights before hitreg / lagshield fix? No thank you.

You know anything about physics? The car example is stupid. Drop a bowling ball out the window and see how little it slows down.

I don't see the relevance of throwing something out of a window compared to a jumping 'Mech. If anything, it would likely be much more like a person's momentum while jumping. Jump jets aren't rockets, they're just a system to make 'Mechs get airborne.

In TT they actually give you more lateral thrust as opposed to vertical thrust.
