I'm not quite sure where to put this so Imma stick it here
Anyways, I've been trying to increase my FOV for a couple days now and no matter what I do I cant seem to get it to work and it's really frustrating. The file is set up properly, its in the right spot, I've restarted my game multiple times.. No cigar. I've tried downloading some of the premade user.cfgs from the forums and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I've gotten the .cfg, put it into the Mehcwarrior Online folder. This is the exact directory.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online
Inside the .cfg is "cl_fov = 79" and thats it. There's also a system.cfg but I havent touched that.

Are you able to see the extensions of all the files? If you can not see the other files/extensions such as system.cfg, omicron.log, systemoverride.cfg, then the file you should be using, user.cfg.
If you are not able to see the extensions of the other files, then your user.cfg is actually user.cfg.txt

Contact support. There should be no issues with the user.cfg FoV adjustment.

What subdirectory is your user.cfg in? You heard the part where you game profile is in your OSs' profile, under "Saved Games," right? "D:\GAMES\Piranha\MechWarrior Online\user.cfg"

Wait. Do a reinstall of the game but set it to a custom directory, eg c:\games\MWO or such. The base game may be installed in that directory but Windows, since the introduction of Vista, moves the base game to a virtual location (hidden unless you disable those attributes) where majority of the current game settings reside and are used.
So making, altering and saving files outside the gaming environment in the program files folder does not guarantee it will be transferred and used.
Sorry, it did not hit me on where you had the game installed.
c:\users\user-windows name\Appdata (this is a hidden folder)\Local\Piranha Games\MWO or something similar to that.

i have "user.cfg" with this
E:\games\pgi\mwo\user.cfg
if you have it installed on C and in program files, it can have some problems with access rights being a system partition, though not sure it would be a problem here
sys_MaxFPS = 60 cl_fov = 79 d3d10_TripleBuffering = 1 d3d11_TripleBuffering = 1 d3d9_TripleBuffering = 1 gp_default_cockpit_light = 5 sys_budget_videomem = 1812

Try creating the user.cfg in another directory outside of both "Program Files *" and "Windows", then copy it to the game's installation directory afterwards, this way you should get an UAC prompt asking for permission.
Otherwise files you create in the system dirs without running in UAC'ed Admin mode will become virtualized, so you may see them in Explorer, but the application itself does not.
