Tuesday, June 2nd @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Patch Number: 1.3.400

Greetings MechWarriors,

The improved MechLab is here!

Strongly driven by community feedback, the new MechLab is intended to provide a more intuitive and consistent experience when building and customizing your 'Mechs. Beyond many 'quality of life' improvements, we wanted to ensure that this new MechLab retained the same core functionality as its predecessor. With the implementation of an array of additional fixes and feature improvements since the end of the PTS session, along with the integration of some excellent community feedback, we're excited to officially introduce the revamped MechLab.

The release of the new MechLab comprises the bulk of this patch, but rounding things out we have the addition of an FOV slider and Cockpit Glass toggle to the Settings menu, a slight buff to Clan Autocannons and Clan Ultra Autocannons, fixes for the Invalid 'Mech and partial item redemption issues, tool-tip functionality throughout the client, and the introduction of an itemized redemption window when redeeming any content.

This patch also sees the initial release of the special Resistance 1 Variant 'Mechs for eligible owners of the top-tier Resistance 1 and Resistance 2 Collections (as part of the Irresistible Resistance promotion).

Read on for all the details, and we'll see you on the battlefield!

- The MechWarrior Team

Change Log

The Improved MechLab

  • New methods of viewing and customizing the loadout of your BattleMechs
  • A more intuitive interface
  • Easier indications of which equipment can go where
  • More detailed information for each item in the MechLab
  • A new Select 'Mech window, featuring the ability to filter by Clan and Inner Sphere 'Mechs
  • Additional features and changes, informed by community feedback

The new Select 'Mech window that you'll see in this release is the same system that was shown during the MechLab PTS session. We know there was a lot of feedback about this change in particular, and future adjustments to the new Select 'Mech window are being evaluated.

The Expanded view allows you to view and customize nearly all aspects of your 'Mech loadout in a single screen, without having to view by individual components.

  • To use the Expanded view, select it from the Layout dropdown inside the Warehouse window
    • Please note that the Expanded view of MechLab requires a minimum resolution of 1600x900

Clan AC and Clan UAC - Reduction in volley delay

    • The delay between each projectile being fired in a single volley has been reduced for Clan Autocannons and Clan Ultra Autocannons. Both the C-AC and the C-UAC use the same values.
        • C-AC2/C-UAC2: 0.11s (reduced from 0.14s)
        • C-AC5/C-UAC5: 0.11s (reduced from 0.15s)
        • C-AC10/C-UAC10: 0.11s (reduced from 0.16s)
        • C-AC20/C-UAC20: 0.11s (reduced from 0.17s)

      UI
      • First-Person Field of View Slider has been added to the Game Settings menu.
      • Cockpit Glass toggle has been added to the Game Settings menu.
      • Tooltips have been added to most buttons throughout the client.
      • The 'Redeem Item' window will now provide a complete list of all items that have been redeemed.

      Bug Fixes

      • Fixed an issue where 'Mechs would appear as 'Invalid' after returning from a match.
      • Fixed an issue where all the items in a player’s redemption queue would not fully redeem after the initial login.

      See you on the battlefield!

      Sweet.

For the Panther, is that supposed to be Right Arm?

That's surprisingly close to my recommended 0.12s for all cAC types, though I also suggest a 6-round burst for all cAC types.

Now only if we could get the social window to be accurate...

At least the "you redeemed something" message isn't going to be that much of a drag (or a guessing game).

      From May roadmap:
      May 19

      - Faction and unit chat now available in the Queue lobby.
      - VOIP (voice transmission quality improvements)
      - BattleMaster BLR-2C and Cataphract CTF-0X variants - Gift Store first.
      - New Mastery bundles.

What about the new mastery packs from the May roadmap that were supposed to be in the May 19th patch? Any word on when that will be coming?

Seen the video from NGNG showing off the UI changes. The community gave ample negative feedback and positive suggestions regarding the mech select screen and all of it was ignored despite the superiority to PGI's latest iteration on public test. I guess I'll let my wave 3 clan mechs and resistance 2 IS mechs rot while I play something else going forward. It's obvious that PGI can't handle this level of development and isn't even willing to take help where it is given.

Seems like PGI wins since they already have your money.

Yes, indeed they do. They won't be getting anymore, though.

Good work. FOV slider. I approve.
And a toggle for the window. I approve.
And a better menu. I approve.
Faster info on mechs. I approve.
Find items on mechs. I super approve.
So if it works you answered my dreams. Good work. Enjoy the money from the resistance pack.

The Clan AC buffs are pretty big for the most part.

      Old Burst Lengths
      UAC/2: 0.14s
      UAC/5: 0.30s
      UAC/10: 0.48s
      UAC/20: 0.68s

      New Burst Lengths
      UAC/2: 0.11s
      UAC/5: 0.22s
      UAC/10: 0.33s
      UAC/20: 0.44s

Not surprisingly, the one that got the least benefit was the one that was the worst already. The continued tradition of hating class-2 Autocannons, begun since the 1980s.

In other news, DakkaWhale uprising inbound? Oh, and Cauldron Born too.

The last thing clans needed was AC Buffs, I am sorry this just makes the PPFLD / Convergence Problem worse.

And yoru absolutely right about the Dakka Whale

I am concerned that the new ENF model will replace the Yen-Lo-Wang on the field. I've simulated builds, and it'll do everything better than the Hero Mech. Ample room for ammo storage, and something that Centurion won't have... Jump Jets. While I'm not bashing the idea of another medium to carry AC/20 - what's the reasoning behind this?

Edit - This Enforcer model doesn't come with jumpies, sadly. But, I still think it's going to be a strong pick for agile high-damage brawling.

Looks to be an amazing patch and I look forward to playing with the new mech lab tomorrow. Also, great work keeping the patch notes coming the day before the patch.

Now, for the people already complaining about the mech select screen, you did read the fact that they're evaluating the feedback given (there were a LOT of different ideas on how to handle things) and seeing what they'll do to fix it up, right? I didn't expect everything to happen in one iteration. I expect much more to come (as already mentioned in the command chair post). Seriously, read everything before complaining.

As for the Clan AC buffs, it was honestly needed. It will put the projectiles into a much tighter cluster . . . allowing damage to be mitigated, but not overtly avoided. Now at least a fair chunk of a burst will get where it was aimed. Hopefully this will add some variety to the clan meta.

The Yen-Lo-Wang can still do something no Enforcer can do . . . zombie; and that is a major benefit that is not to be taken lightly.
