Couple of matches over the weekend were suspicious even to the point of the other team calling their teammate on it. He discoed after. Was running a trial mech too.
I am sure 90% of the time its not cheating but the other 10% needs careful inspection.
I know you can't do it in pugs but if PGI catches cheaters on a team that's been doing it a while they should temp ban or permanent ban the members. We all know how easy they are to spot when you operating every match with them.
Once they do that a few times it should calm down a lot. It will make others think twice.

I was in behind some big mountains(the jungle map) and no enemy in sight and have radar deprivation yet magically get hit by LRM or something ... WTF
Really the game had barely started and no way anyone would have come behind me, im a 140 speed mech, i was the front line but faar away from team on the side and behind solid high mountains...
First time iv actually felt there was some hacks going on..and it felt just dirty. lost my will to play
so is this getting looked at how to actually prevent it from happening and not just bans?.

Giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming you didn't just play very badly that round:
Yes, PGI will be looking into stopping it as it really annoys people so PGI lose income from it.
No, it can't actually be stopped outright as the fact the game needs to be playable means someone can muck around and put in a hack.
The basic situation will be: make it as difficult as economically, technologically, and game-still-playable-cally for people to cheat so that a lot of those who might won't due to the barrier to entry and then ban the crap out of the determined few to get them to go away.
Also you're playing an online game so you need to accept that hacks will happen to some degree

Hackers before first ban wave: "No way PGI can ever, catch us"
Hackers after ban wave : "It's been patched no way PGI can ever catch us"
Release of wave 3..
Rinse repeat.
Release of Resistance 2
Rinse repeat.
Just keep filling out your moderation reports... Let PGI do the detective work.
