Search is your friend. This has been covered before and is a terrible idea.

No third person. Just no.

Well, then i guess the incentive to buy customization is pretty low unless it's for the cockpit. At least i get to see the gun i customize in other FPS games...

Isn't MWO employ a similar spotting mechanic from WoT? You will be high-lighted if you are spotted anyway. (with some kinda rectangle at the top of your mech) And you will be concealed if not being spotted, so the 3rd person view won't be that helpful.

Edit: Maybe i am completely wrong because i only watched some videos from youtube.

No, the system MW:O uses is the good old eye model, what you see is what you can shoot(i.e. no open plains you stare at for hours and then a tank suddenly appears in the middle from nowhere).

Won't that leave an open for other people to exploit the system? Such as making environment transparent or marking everyone with a marker to see everyone's movement... I don't like cheat but i do worry that kinda thing can happen. People already tried all those method in WoT before and the only reason they abandoned those project is because the system prevent them from getting the information.

I just don't want to see a good game being ruined because some people likes to cheat, and those people are always out there.

No, no, no. A million times, "no". ******* Microsoft for putting 3rd person view into MW and making these people think it should be standard. Being able to see around corners? Wider field of view? It's a cheat and it's wrong.

Ahem... it wasn't Microsoft that introduced 3rd person to teh Mechwarrior, it was here since MW2.
They were only the ones that made crappy 1st person, making most people go with the 3rd person camera.

This game is based on "LOS" (Line Of Sight) that goes for radar and your view. What that means is when you lose LOS on a target it drops off radar right away. Being able to toggle to 3rd person view would create a huge tactial advantage allowing players to "bypass" the LOS system. This is why there is no 3rd person view. MOL is more of a tactical game where you have to think about what your doing instead of just minelessly running around being able to see around builds, over hills ect. Where is the fun in that?

Hm. I don't remember a 3rd person option in MW2, but maybe I repressed that.

That's just not as fun as it sounded. Looking at a stationary mech in the garage is not as appealing as seeing it perform on the battlefield.

Have a buddy use FRAPS to record your mech as it is getting blown up and running around shooting. You can see it all you want that way and you wont be distracted during the fight, looking at yourself. LOL

How about a game replay mode. You could after a match select to download the gamefile containing everything that happened (its a text file, not a movie, so quite small). You can then replay it to your hearts content. This is great for movie makers or people that want to watch league matches... dare I say SOLARIS matches!

[edit]

PS - Please note you would be downloading it while in queue between battles too.

I'm sorry, I know this forum is full of typos but that particular one just tickled something in me. I think you meant 'Line of Sight'.

"C" button. Was there, but there was no need to use it.
Cockpit view was much more comfortable.

3rd person camera was usually not allowed in mw4 in compettive game because of balance pupose. It gives you unfaire advantage by allwoing you to see above obtacles and hills and being able to see while being hidden. I will be glad if they force first person view to maintain a level of balance,

I must confess... I like the idea of being able to watch matches as if watching a sporting event (like Solaris and/or Solaris-style matches). Of course, this may simply be fueled by my personal fantasy of becoming professional mechwarrior player ;-) )

Could not agree with you more mate there needs to be a 3rd person view i was hoping there was going to be one like the rest of the games out there.

If you want to express you opinion of a subject I strongly recommend you get your terminology right.

We dont NEED a 3rd person view, the game is fully playable without it.
And just because other games has it does not mean that we NEED it here.

Most players here, myself included, dont want it because it gives those who use it an unfair advantage.
Those who use it can look around corners and over hills to see what is there without having to expose themselves, while those who dont
use it would have to expose themselves to see the same thing, making them a target of opportunity.

The only thing we NEED here is for people to stop creating topics on things that are either posted in the FAQ or has been asked and answered before.
Next time, please read the FAQ and use the search function of the forums before posting something.
