Playing CW is not easy. So many organized units out there, so many 12 man groups that know how to stomp just about everything they see, it's no wonder the average pug won't play CW. When you combine that with long wait times and dwindling participation, CW can just downright suck.

Fortunately us Davions have the solution for that. Every Wed we gather all available pilots and play CW until the Cease Fire. The Euro's start it up during their peak time and it picks back up again a few hours before the NA CF.

Every Wed it is a different bag. Pilots from several different units, many who are not in a unite at all, new pilots, and old veterans, all combined into mixed but organized groups. Many of us have never played together before, some of us have. Every week I am adding new people to my friends list, people I have never met or dropped with before. Despite the fact that we are unfamiliar with each other, and thus don't know each others strengths, we throw down in CW every week and usually we kick @55. Now we still get stomped by the occasional one unit 12 man who have been playing together forever and know each others in's and outs, but even when that happens, we still fight and die together, lick our wounds, move and and stomp somebody else.

Every week we see our wins, our defeats and the usual turret run or two. No matter what though, we try our best to keep it interesting. If the Davion objective is to take the Liao attack planet for the day, we will give it two drops. If no enemy shows up, we move on to a planet where we can get a fight. After getting in a couple good fights, we go back to the main objective and do another dry run. After just one more dry run we go back to a real fight. We do this all night, being sure to take the planet while not getting bored to death with turret runs that kill the fun.

We take players who are brand new and teach them how to play CW. They learn what mechs work best, what tactics work with different units and factions, and certainly what tactics don't work. We let all who want to, be the Drop Commander.

We learn off of each other on our path to Davion glory. it isn't always easy, and we don't always win, but we have a lot of fun doing it. if you are still trying to do CW as a single pug, or if you have lost the will to play CW because of low population or constantly being stomped, come drop with us for Wed Night Warfare. It sure beats the same ol' same ol' day after day.

House Davion TS server: ts50.bargainvoice.com:7345 no server password required Get there and enter dropships with other people in it. (The channels are named as dropships, and often the name includes the front that dropship goes to - Liao, Kurita, or Clans mostly.) Edit: And if this forum doesnt let me add line breaks VERY SOON i'm gonna fly over to Vancouver to kick some asses.

I cannot add extra blank spaces for more structure either, sorry. I hate web programmers so much.

Just depends on where you come from. The EU side ist starting at 8 pm CET. Participating units are mostly german, italien and scatterd EU members of bigger NA units. Usually we get up to 4-5 Dropships together. From those, the 31st Hussar Regiment hast two dropships full of german speaking members. Feel free to ask anybody on the ts, we are glad about every participants.

Yup, every Wednesday. Just jump on TS, go to one of the Looking for Group rooms and say hi.

Exactly. Just sit in the "Looking for group" channel and someone will come get you. It may take time as some CW drops last 20+ minutes.

Alternatively, just drop into a channel with fewer than 12 players and as if you can join the next game. The lads or ladies ill nearly always give you the slot if there is room.

Take some time to listen to RJ's advice too btw. Here are a few major barriers to CW success.

1. Get on comms. (Usually Team Speak server)
2. Have a unified drop deck philosophy. (Bring 1 to 2 ECM per wave, when lights are called for 10 of 12 should at least be in lights, heavy wave should be Assault / Heavy)
3. Thunderbolts, Firestarter, Spider 5D, Laser boats should dominate your drop deck.
4. Cold AC5 / UAC5 Dakka dakka on the hot maps!
5. Your drop caller won't always be right ... but listening to the drop caller is the path to success 95% of the time.
6. Be on comms!
7. LRMs are rarely your friend IS v Clan (too much Hellbringer ECM)

Might add that last WNW, we would have had a good chance to retake Talitha from Clan Wolf if we had had a 3rd full dropship during EU main battle season. (That one which ends at 23:15 CET which seriously sucks because that's exactly the time when we have the most pilots online.)
Damn summer holidays - we conquered 4 sectors with 2 dropships, and even a bunch of PUGs would have helped a lot because wolved had mostly only PUGs online either.
So please next time, everybody show up who can! Because at US main playing phase, the wolves come online with elite players, it's more difficult then to take any planets back than one phase earlier. (AFAIK most organized EU clan units are Jade Falcons, at least according to player numbers in queues and success.)

There is no reason not to play in WNW. Every single other factor aside, getting better at the game makes the game more fun. Playing in WNW will make you better. Win or lose, show up pay attention drop with groups and get better at the game.
