i was thinking of getting 3x Radeon 7770 1GHz cards with 3-way crossfire. i wonder how that would run on 3 monitors?

i think it would be a little overkill :P

With eyefinity, if it works, it'd be awesome. And overkill never hurt anyone, right?

You don't need a "3-way" cable, just daisy-chain two normal crossfire cables. I.E, Card one and two will have a cable, two to three will have another cable.

Hope that helps chap.

Edit: I believe if you were going the Nvidia route, they use a 3-way cable but then I've used ATI for years so wouldn't know. :)

BOO AMD, Nvidia roxors!!!!!

j/k. you probably only need 2 cards for eyefinity to be stable, but it would only work if you had 1 DVI and 2 HD monitors or vice versa. The power you gain tends to drop off quickly the more cards you add

Am I missing something here, why on earth would you get a 7770, let alone 3 of them? :S.

Crosfire doesnt double your graphics card memory either, so you would still only have the 1GB 1 7770 has.

Just get a 7950 or something like that instead, that would be a better option, and you can still run eyefinity off the one card.

I currently use a single 6970 for eyefinity, and dont have any issues on battlefield 3 at medium settings, and skyrim on high. You need to have an active displayport adapter for the 3rd monitor, but any combination of DVI/HDMI for the other 2 screens is fine too.

well to me this is just a showoff thread (nothing wrong with that)

3 of those cards shouldn't have any remote shadow of issues.

pair those 3 with my AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor. now that's overkill for the masses

I'm not 100%, but actually i think they could have a lot of issues, 1GB graphics ram isn't a lot to run a game on 5760 * 1080 resolution at any decent graphics settings...

It wouldn't be overkill.

In fact it probably wouldn't run all that well. The HD7770 is a midrange card thats slightly slower than a HD6850. And using 3 cards does not add the VRAM together, so you'd still only be left with 1Gb of usable VRAM, and using 1Gb of VRAM across 3 monitors wouldn't be a pleasant experience unless its older games or the graphical quality is lowered.
