Will there be an online chat lobby where all can troll and have general fun in the MWO game site (as in where you can search for and join games)?

My guess is that any in game chat will be restricted to your respective house.
I have no idea how this will work for merc corps.

The only thing and online chat lobby will be good for, is for people to talk serious trash like they used too when the MSN gaming zone was up. Which of course, is why I fully approve of having one.

We don't know how many chat channels there will be, but I would guess that there will be a main channel with anyone who wants to, a regional channel for different areas, a house channel/merc channel depending on your affiliation and a guild channel that is limited to your guild members only.

But, only time will tell how any of that will work.

A way to find people to group up with would be great. Say my friends aren't online and I want to play a scout, I'd certainly want to have an LRM fire support mech with me when I queue up

They mentioned being able to form chat groups and queue up together, no more specifics than that.

This is a must. It will improve the mechwarrior community and also improve the beta test. if players can discuss problems in real time and help new players problems will be sorted out much faster. It will also eliminate alot of double reporting. people will know what is already being worked on with out having to troll the fourms.

I wouldn't mind a "general" chat as an option.

I could live without this I think only because....

1.) inevitably general chat always breaks down into a lot of non-game banter and even trolls. People who've gamed a lot in mmo's can relate to this I would think.

2.) if it was a general chat with every major opponent in the IS House/Unit it could get ugly. So many people have no sense of sportsmenship and will talk smack all day long if allowed.


The only online chat lobby I would like would be a House or Unit chat so you could form up "pre-made" drops sort of speak. This would give you the opportunity to chose who you would like to group up and drop with. And it would really add to the community feeling of doing battle for your house/unit.

now all we need is a way to match this to the ingame, so we can launch from teh chat room.
