PGI PLZ

Can't have IIC mechs without the most iconic of the bunch. Have pity on us clanners so that we may spin 360 degrees in joy.

Someone get Bishop in here!

So, how would Clan Battlemechs work again? Basically just IS 'Mechs (same construction rules as we have now) using Clan tech?

Same for everything but the Jenner.

ATMs and Heavy lasers for all the others. PGI will be making half of those variants up.

I kinda fear heavy lasers would have excessive durations if those were to be added... yet those things are so tonnage/crit efficient for what they do (IS laser range with far more damage and heat generated).

Eh, PGI could add Binary Lasers to give the IS a rough equivalent. They'd have to make up a small and medium variant, but whatever. Actually PGI could add those now, they're in time line even if they were never used a whole lot.

The large laser version weighs 9 tons, does 12 damage and generates 16 heat. It has LL range though.

PGI could do 1.5 tons for BML for say 8 damage with longer duration
BSL could be 0.75 tons and do 5 damage.
PGI could also do an BERLL that hits for 12 and generates 20 heat, but I'm not sure I'd choose that over an ERPPC.

They'd be perfect for light mechs and brawlers with limited energy hard points

but..but...I find the Urbie IIC to be an abomination! It wouldn't even have 360 rotation!!!! (technically it would have none...they didn't give it a waist turret)

even if the exposed waist turrets artists are so enamored of make no sense to begin with.

While not strictly canon, I would say it safe to say that each had lower tech versions, at some point, even if we don't get the mixtech to really represent early Clan designs.

Long duration heavy lasers, as relatively short range weapons, would defeat the purpose.

But, they are noted for 2 things, heat (ridiculous heat) and inaccuracy.

Simplest way to represent the way a Heavy laser should work, IMO is:
- Pulse Laser Like Durations, slightly longer cooldowns.
- HOT, very HOT with big GH multipliers
-Not give them the second range bracket. Due to their inherent and canon inaccuracy, make them purely short range weapons. So instead of 180 total range, Heavy Small is 90m. Instead of 540 for Medium, 270, and for Large 450, not 900.

To damage dropoff, nothing. Blazing hot, short duration/high cooldown short range facerippers.

Forget the UrbanMech IIC, I want the Jenner IIC swapped out for the Locust IIC.

I will go Clans for the Locust IIC.

Yes, though it sounded like they might be a bit more limited in engine flexibility than IS battlemechs. At least, that's what I got out of it.
