I thought about getting it but when I saw what I would get for my money I decided to skip.
Anyone else?

I haven't bought it yet for more or less the same reason. Actually was just coming to post and ask...
Any owners of the St. Ives' Blues....is it worth the MC? Are Vindicators in general worth the effort?

three (or more?) quirk passes later, it's still absolutely craptastic in that respect. it just doesn't measure up to any other variant (with the exception of the 1X maybe, but that one's just terribad), not to mention heavier, better equipped mechs.

You can do a few things with it (2 ERLL or 2 ASRM4/3MPL, or 2SRM10/3ML, all with JJs and a STD engine) but it's really hard to justify buying one unless you like the look. Which I did.

I sat and looked at it on sale for like 10 minutes. Bought, ran one match...
RAGRATS
The thing can;t run smaller like ML loadouts, no hardpoints. It doesnt have tonnage to run twin PPC because it can't mount JJ, a decent engine, and enough DHS to make it work.
Single PPC loadout? In the land of 70 point laser barf alphas? hahahahaha. And it still doesnt run that cool.
Speed, firepower, toughness. Pick TWO, thats most mechs, a couple are at like 2.5, St. Ive's............... it chose none of the above.
it is too bad, the thing is badass looking. but aside from Pretty Baby, no hero mech in game is so gimped out the gate.

With that 20% shorter duration on lasers quirk why would you want to mount PPCs? LPL are reduced to ~.5 sec pulse. I like to run my St. Ives' Blues like this:

This one could run dual PPCs but my question is still why?
Or (runs a bit hotter)

1AA which has a max jump of 70 meters!!!! That is ridicules for it jumps higher then almost all the light mechs. So go ahead put 2 ppcs on the demon and let hell rain in the form of lighting(people will be sooo mad at you If the was ever a place to put a shock absorber modules you just found it
Pros
-Fast and very maneuverable when mastered
-Very strong Jumper
-Jump sniping never died with these mechs
-PPC quirks are strong here with 40% to ppc velocity
- Good for cw
Cons
-Hard points are trash considering how low they are
-Dual guass make your life suck
-Large for its weight

The Griffin is also pretty good with 2 PPCs and poptarting and is much tougher so given the choice and the fact that they are in the same weight class I'd probably go with my Griffin instead.

That second one seems pretty solid. Take out most assault from behind in 2 to 3 shots, heat efficient enough to fight for a good clip, fast enough to escape and cooldown, 35meters for jump. I don't own Vindicators but that's a decent build for an IS 45 tonner.

Maybe transplant the Locust 1V quirks to is, or some crazy streak buff - just something different.

The 1AA can be a fun poptart, but that's it. The rest is going to need a lot of luck and sweat, blood and tears to work.
