Ever wondered why we have stuff like "Sensor Range" or "UAV Upgrade", TAG or Active Probe Units, Hand Actuators and Light Mechs like the Locust ? Here it is.

Meta Game Level:
Planets get marked for RAID/RECON. If each Planetary Zone was at least once successfully Raided or Recon`d they are open to Attack after the next Ceasefire. No, there is no un-discovering discovered Zones Mode.

Recon/Raid common properties:
15 Minute Timelimit, no minimum weight.
attackers ideally should be lights and one or two mediums per drop deck

Recon Mode:
Invasion map, doors open, turrets powered down.
Attacker needs to identify the main targets (Door Gens, Gen1 Gen2 Gen3, Omega). Secondary Targets Identified give a decent amount of cash/xp/loyality. secondary targets are: turrets, mechs. Destroying stuff is purely optional here on intention.
A target becomes identified by whoever first achieves a solid lock-on using R key.
yes, TAG/UAV/active probe/target info module come in very handy. A single light with a UAV can severely ruin your day, as can a tag spotter coming past the gate.
yes, there are positions where you can spot two objects with dual tag very fast.
yes, this calls for split defenders at gates and a fast group between.
yes, this calls for fast and maybe split attackers.
a upper limit of 180-200 tons may be necessary to make this a fast paced game mode.
EDIT: after some thought - 160 ton upper limit. see below.

Raid Mode:
Invasion mode map, doors open, no idea wether turrets needed yet.
only a mech with hand actuators can carry a box.
12 boxes get distributed in defenders area in groups of 4.
attacker needs all 4 boxes of one group. defender doesnt know which.
boxes can be picked up and put down, while carrying a box you cannot fire arm mounted weapons.
boxes need to be carried back to the start area, so it is mandatory to protect the carrier.
yes, bringing from only four to zero mechs with hand actuators makes you fail this mode.
yes, both "fight your way in with mediums" and "rush em with lights" are working concepts.
yes, this still screams light rush.
yes, this screams feints.
Oh, and it implements a "protect the VIP" mode, too. indirectly, but yes.

160 ton limit:
- allows for steiner scout lance (12x Atlas) but is a high risk gambit on the time limit
- works with mix of mediums and lights or lights.

why this should be included:
- gives a reason to level light mechs that otherwise are no good choice in other CW modes
- gives a reason to use otherwise rarely deployed modules like UAV upgrades
- teaches using the R key and hand actuators :)
- easy to implement since a lot of things can be re-used
- can be implemented in stages (e.g. first recon mode, then metagame inclusion, then raid mode etc.)
- breaks with the static positioning struggles of CW to add a fast reaction mode
- tricky bit: box carry mode and hand actuator stuff

Happy Raiding... :D

PS: if this ever gets implemented, i want my "fat jack murphy was here" tag on the boxes :D

you'll be happy to know PGI has said they are working on "scouting missions" to add into CW which will feature lighter load outs and I think only 4 vs 4. aside from that they haven't released any details, and even what they said is subject to change.

i think even with the scouting missions 4v4 this above game mode would fit in well.

only issue i have: clans dont have a 20 ton mech.
IS: 100t (Atlas)+3 x 20t (Locusts) - worst case 4x ECM, a 100t "slow rush" and 3 fast waves.
Clan: 85-80t (Gargoyle, Warhawk)+ 3x 25t (Mist Lynx) - ok, the assaults are faster, but you generally get only 3 waves best case when compared to maxed out locusts and less ECMs.

but then again i would probably go in with 2 Nova and 2 kit foxes.... :D
