Greeting everybody!

I'v been seeing alot of Dev bashing on the forums lately, and yet the people who bash the dev's (myself included) keep playing and posting..

So, I thought we should explore this love/hate relationship we have with our Dev's..

Ok, so everybody, please post 5 things you love about the dev's and/or what they have done apsolutely right with MWO...

Also, post 5 things that you hate about the Dev's and/or you think they did totally wrong..

here, I'll start:

Loving the Dev's for:

1) Making MWO free to play
2) Having the courage to take on an epic project such as the Battletech universe
3) Making the mechs, maps and the game in general look amazing
4) Doing the Dev vlogs, town halls and similar things to let us in on their creative processes, workspaces and generaly taking the time to connect with us as a community
5) Making the first MW game that has mechs that look different depending on equipment installed in them.

Bonus round - Loving you for the Tukayyid event.. One of the most fun thrilling things I'v ever done in a MW game.

Hating the Dev's for:

1) Beeing slow to provide content such as maps, mechs and game immersion
2) Making a game oriented solely on PVP instead of launching with PVE elements
3) Nerfing the Timberwolf
4) Constantly releasing mech pack that cost as much as full fledged games from other developers
5) Not listening to and not communicating with your player base even though your forums are aflame with sugestions and quality material

Bonus round - Origin mechs - Seriously, Dual UAC20 Hunchback?!

It's the only Mechwarrior game around that still has a reasonable playerbase.
That's probably the only reason majority of us are still playing.

Because you love to stomp around in giant bipedal warmachines you must love the developers? I don't think so, dude.

I couldn't have missed the point.
I'm way too accurate for that.

I like the game, but the Origins IIC mech pack doesn't go over well for me. I bought the Arctic Cheetah specifically to have a good Clan light mech, as the others were too limited in speed. It has not even been released yet and already a much better Clan light, the Jenner IIC, is announced.

The Jenner has more speed (160 for AC's 142), generally more hardpoints (what happened to lore hardpoints, would have helped to balance by hardpoint starving) and more customisibility to basically fulfill every role the Arctic Cheetah could do but only having the downside of not having ECM.

I am sure releasing better mechs is a great way to make money (EBJ has too weak armor to be considered OP imo, so Wave 3 is not targeted here), but I would love some solid details on how PGI will balance these IIC mechs.

Good things:
1. Lots of events for free stuff
2. CW rewards give you lots of mechbays so you don't have to spend money if you don't want to
3. Reworking of outdated maps to become more versatile

Bad things:
1. Possible power creep with new mech packs
2. High prices for mechpacks, with Clan packs being 10 dollars per tier more expensive for no good reason
3. Using Twitter as a medium for Russ Bullock to hear about player issues, it's too limited to be used for a solid communication link with the playerbase

Yeah, I guess that was a bit ungrateful. I actually like the core game, how it was when everything started. Most decisions made from that point on were bad, though, so actual "development" of the game was more of a "deconstruction" in my opinion. That's why it's hard for me to like the developers, because I think they had something good with great potential and made something mediocre out of it.

They also made some good things, though, such as AMS toggle, or the option to mute voip. And the core game can still entertain me for a few hours per month.

Good.

1. The fact we have a Mechwarrior game at all.
2. Its F2P and is NOT P2W.
3. We got Clans that were NOT OP from the start, good work on making them a Sill based side rather then just raw power.

Bad.

1. Horrid map design and map flow.
2. Having Russ making game design decisions, the guy couldn't design himself out of a cardboard box. He is a cool guy, just not a game designer.
3. Horrid "balance" decisions.

Could only come up with 3 of each off the top of my head......

Are you sure you were around when the Clans were first released?
Because they WERE op, extremely so.

Some of the mechs still are. <_<

Loving the Dev's for:

1) Making MWO free to play
2) Having the courage to take on a niche genre with 2 Distinct player bases.
3) Making the Crappy mechs from TT look cool as hell.
4) Interacting with the community at all after 3 years of rabid foaming from the fan base.
5) Putting up with my sense of humor!

Hating the Dev's for:

1) 1.4 is not DOUBLE unless single is 0.7...
2) Ghost Heat is not a real thing...
3) "There will never be third Person view" (credibility took a hard hit here gents) But I didn't expect them to keep their word on everything...
4) Mech prices in the shop should not be double the price of their Pewter counter parts (LE Jumping Atlas is $25!)
5) Using Twitter as the go to for information.

Oh... Hi Joe Mallan here.

I remember them saying the same thing about never adding "Coolant flush"...
Well... I guess, technically, they didn't add it. They added Coolant *shot*...
Along with other consumables... Probably the thing i hate the most after:
-Clan tech
-Quirks
-Mech-scale
-Skill system

******* hell.

Don't care how good the Dev's are. Its a fail without vision and leadership.

Ask that question first.

If the vision and Leadership is not to your liking does that really mean there is none?

It's not the developers.

It's the faulty guys at the steering wheel. It's the top guys on the highest level who makes terribad decisions.
