Important Edit: This project is now officially canceled. My game is repeatedly disconnecting me from the server, so I can no longer be involved in anything MWO until Tech Support can help me out.
If anyone can take up the reins, that'd be awesome.

Hello fellow Forumites.

We're looking for some pilots, camera operators, and someone with video editing skills to do a remake of the amazing Mechcommander 1 Intro Video.

Pilots will need to ensure they have the correct camo for the chassis they are auditioning for, and will need to be able to follow cues.
Camera operators will need to be able to take good footage using the same (or as close to it) view points as used in the original footage.
The video editor just needs their mad l33t skillz, and be able to splice the new footage into the old audio (if possible).

Please send me a PM if you are interested in helping us with this endeavour.

For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, the original Intro can be found here:

Edit 1:
We now have a list of potential pilots for the various chassis.
Hard Case (Hunchback): Jack Corban
Vanger (Commando): Iraqi Walker
Viper (Centurion): Alan Davion
Panther (Raven): Scout Derek

Jaguar Madcat: KuroNyra, TheSilken

Now, I say Potential, because there may yet be a conflict of interest regarding the times when we do the shooting. Once we have a full crew, and details are finalised, we will get a final cast. At this time, we'll be using Mining Colony, but we may switch to the revamped River City, once it is released.

I must be the Timber Wolf.

P.S: Hit up Lordred if you want 4k+ resolution for the video.

I would love to be the commando... however the problem is due to my region and wireless internet, I think there may be a packet lost spike or poor response time from me to be viable for footage... for a game? sure... footage? no...

I can do the Commando (Got the 2D strapped with SRMs already.)

Let me know if you need some help.. I was thinking on doing something like that but haven't worked out the storyboard and how to do some of the shots... but hey if you need help let me know

Triskin (OGD)

Looking at it you can splice the new with the old footage very easy but the real hard part would be the timing of the old footage and to get the right camera shots for the time that you have of the replacement of the footage. That I find is the hardest part myself in my video's as if you mess up then you have the cool shot but the music is wrong and the voices are off a bit...

You would have to use the mining colony as that looks like city that they are in but have to scout the locations and pace out the running and where the raven turns as well.

Let me know if you need help with this

After Triskins group finishes recording, we could probably get a few more people to this. And what time would we have to show up?

Ok I just watched and saw how many shots you needed.. about 6 are 3-5 second shots the rest are about 1-3 second shots for a total of 33 total shots to make it work and then you have to splice it to the original score as well.Thats not too hard but you need to time to the millisecond on each shot to spice them right just might take some time but easy once you get the hang of it.

The only problem is the last shot where the drop ships are descending on the planet with a pan view of the hero's watching it might be hard but you can just have them over the dead timberwolf for that effect..

Triskin (OGD)

Thinking about it would be awesome edits... let me know if I can edit this for ya...

Thanks for the overwhelming responses guys.
Lordred has agreed to do the footage if the timing fits in with him.
I agree that the timing is going to be crucial. I plan to do timed runs in Mining Colony to see if I can match things up.
Also going to look into new River City. If that map works out, we might be able to do something there instead.

If you're using The Mining Collective, I recommend B3 for the dead end scene.

You might want to wait with this until the free cam tool is out. Filming this with the Jagermech-Cam will NEVER get you the right angles, in fact its only one vertical position all the time

I think the problem is that any mech cam will give you one level. Panthers, and commandos are better camera mechs in my opinion.

Both don't give you and unobstructed 16:9 view at 2x zoom. That means you have to cut, which means you have to upscale, which means decreased image quality.
You could record in 2K though.

I would wait for the tool anyways. We have all our projects on halt, because we're waiting for that
