Blender and Fusion for some particles is more than enough for easy things like dropships.

How are you planning to do the non-ingame shots anyways?

The thing in the middle is still there when you zoom fully in, IIRC.

The Non-ingame shots, I was hoping we could just splice in the original footage. Sure, it's grainy and low-res, but I was hoping it'd do.

Well 2D animations... Could be a possibility. Wouldn't look that great though.

Could you load up the model and texture of the mw4 Hrothgar dropship and use that? I doubt it but could be a possibility.

Jumping in late: if the plan is to splice in the original "live" footage with the new mech footage, then unless someone has a friend of a friend who can lay hands on the original tapes (and you can bet your backside that the hi-quality original will be on a Betacam tape in someone's loft/basement) then to make it look not-weird, you're probably going to have to degrade the new mech footage a little -- so it's quite likely that a minimal amount of cleverness will suffice for any shots you can't just record ingame as the postprocessing should hide any shonky edges.

PS: I'm assuming you have it, but if needs be I can extract the original video from the CD (Smacker format, I'm guessing) and dump it somewhere in an edit-friendly codec/container.

Not cancelled. Just postponed. I have my Electrical Inspectors Course to complete by November, and a Spartan MkII Costume to complete for the Armageddon Event in Auckland.

That said, if anyone else wants to pick this up and run with it, feel free. I was just trying to get it started, as I thought it would be an awesome thing to see (especially after seeing that MW 2 Intro Remake a while back). In fact, there is probably some else better suited to directing, organizing, etc.

But, IF no-one else takes up the reins, I will be back. It just won't be till after my Exam mid-November, sorry. Still keen to do it, just need the time to do so.

This project is now officially cancelled. My game has become unplayable due to recurring disconnection issues.

If anyone else would like to take the helm, that would be awesome.
