Time For An Upgrade

This last patch dropped me down to around the 40-50 range. Which is still good, but not great. Which is also fine since my box is over four years old.
I have a GTX 550ti, i7-2600 clocked up to 3.8, and 8GB of RAM. Not optimal for MWO, but I do a lot with VMs on this box so the i7 was the logical choice for me.
A planned upgrade is to simply double my RAM. I keep hitting close to 80-90% memory on my machine since the last few months of patches. Which I think is due to the game being poorly optimized.
However, I'm looking at using an SSD exclusively for my OS for faster booting and was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations on a smaller, lower cost SSD I should be looking at for this purpose. Keep in mind that literally the only thing I plan on keeping on it will be the OS.

Im presuming that 2600 is the locked version.
The VM's i take it your running alongside MWO? In which case that's why your reaching your RAM limit otherwise 8GB would have been fine, so that's worth an increase.
SSD wise, Samsung make the best on the market atm, Crucial is another good brand and it seems since OCZ was brought up by Toshiba they are on the turn around too.
The Samsung 850 EVO is pretty cheap for 120GB storage at $56.

Yeah, my 2600 is the locked version. I may or may not pick up one of the new i5s in a year or so and build an updated gaming rig and relegate this current tower to just work and tinkering.
I don't run the VMs concurrently with gaming anymore. I made that mistake once. JUST once. Talk about bad framerate...
but I don't think that's what's causing my memory issues. I haven't pinpointed my memory issue, but I decided to just order 8 more GB of RAM because why not? There's a sale on the ones I already own.
I was looking at the Samsung that you linked and got exactly what I was hoping for, someone here recommending it. A few guys I work with picked up the Mushkin ECO2 in bulk and are loving them: http://www.newegg.co...Item=20-226-678
You have any knowledge about the Mushkin you're willing to share?
Also, thanks for the response!

That's odd, because MWO shouldn't (and doesn't on my system) use anywhere near 8GB, RAM is cheap so sure put more in if you want to, but you really should try and lockdown where that RAM is being eaten up rather than just leaving it.
The Mushkin drives are ok, their only downside is they still use the rather dated (and less reliable) Sandforce controller.
If the Samsung wasn't on sale, the Mushkin would be an ok buy...but the Samsung is on sale

No kidding, I'm currently trying to pinpoint my leak. I'm saving my important information at the moment (like music, pictures, docs, porn , etc...) and just wiping my harddrive and starting over from scratch. I really need to find that leak since it's starting to affect my apache VM.
I just ordered that Samsung, because it seems the better buy since it uses a newer controller.

I've got an OCZ 600W in it already since I knew I was going to upgrade it a few years after building it. I was looking at picking up a GTX 770 in a few months when many go on sale. I try to stay away from Radeon cards when I can, I haven't had a good past with them.
Also, thanks for input!

Samsung, by contrast, has drives that have held up in torture tests better than just about anyone else's.

Yeah; That's crap: I'm seeing 2.7 ~ 3.0 in game-play; The interesting part is how when I popped up to 3.1, then 3.4GB, the Scaleform Lag started … Took nine games to happen …
