Whatever Happened To The Fire Moth?

Have there been any announcements about the possibility of seeing a Fire Moth for the Clans?

It is conspicuously absent from the roster...

The going over 180 KPH tends to break the game. It goes 216KPH with MASC... If you think current lights are hard to hit at times. A Firemoth going fullspeed could take a Direwolf due to it's lag shield and rubber banding. . . I too wish for a Firemoth. With luck one day PGI can find the way to get speeds stable over 200 Kph in game. Until then Mechs like the Flea and Firemoth are sitting on a back burner.

Under the current rules for MWO's MASC, it would actually only run:

162.0 base
+10% speed tweak
------------------------
178.2
+10% M.A.S.C. Mk I
------------------------
196.02

If they can get HSR reliability a little better, which seems to be part of what they are currently working on, maybe the 170 "speed limit" will be increased. Currently, it is impossible with our host state rewind and network coding. However, if it improves even 15%, you could potentially hit those speeds.

Indeed. There is still hope for the Fire Moth...
(heck, I wouldn't care if it was released without MASC)

I know the mech could use that tonnage for armor.... But I would love going that fast regardless!

I wouldn't be surprized if they had the same legs the same molds were used for the summoner, timberwolf and hellbringer. The clans are very good at reusing things due to their waste little attitudes, so it wouldn't be a far shot if the mist lynx's legs were from the same mold as the Firemoth. still though I want a cougar!

and there's a little problem with that model

I'm afraid the original concept art is wrong. Look at the specifications in the sheet. EDIT: Actually, yes, one of the missile launchers is in the torso.... hmmm I will need to fix that,

Since they reduced the effectiveness of MASC from TT it should be possible now--its max speed wouldn't be that far beyond what can be done already.

I would still very much like to see both the Firemoth and Viper in-game to complete the TRO 3050 lineup of omnis.

Those arm mounts would be such a pain to deal with. Everyone would see you coming from Kilometers out, and start blasting. And the arms would just fall off.

Also with the changes to the net code Tuesday, I've noticed a lack of Lag Shielding, and lights down down fast. So perhaps they can add this beast in.

Its only 20t so scaled right it will not be THAT tall. The arms would be both good and bad--you could peak like a boss but I am sure it would lose them as fast or faster than the the Mist Lynx once it got shot at.
