Don't start it.
We don't need another thread derailed to a sh*t-slinging match of:
"Clan Lasers are better",
"Oh yeah, IS AC20s",
"F*ck you and your 50% weight Missiles, Clan scum",
"I can't hear you over your +50% Quirks, freebirth"

:D

This is pretty much the worst case of a hero pandering to the Current Meta I've ever seen.
I sure would laugh hard if they broke the laser vomit meta with the next rebalance pass. So hard.

While i agree the name and pattern/camo are bad, the hardpoint aint, because the other Thuds already have great mixed hardpoint.

I know this isn't fair, but...

Every time I see a player playing with Arm Lock on, I immediately slot him into the "COD kiddy pool" crowd. I get the whole convergence issue when you're running several identical weapons, but that's just more reason to hate those mechs. Choosing to give up arm articulation is a crime in this game.

To me, like wise not fair..but I just figure it means they can't aim on their own that well. But I realize that's my bias talking. But playing mixed weapon, mobile builds, i need my arms free, and don't need a crutch to sync all my weapons.

Armlock is one thing I will never respect, TBH, I feel it should be available, along with 3pV only for the Cadet Matches.

Some of us know how to turn arm lock on and off on the fly...

Sure. Because anyone can? But since it give faster and convergence, I still think it's a crutch. Sorry. Just my opinion.

^ why handicap your faction? Arm-lock on the thunderwub is the most powerful weapon we have against clans. Spreading just just increases TTK.

I'm not going to put myself at a disadvantage because reasons. I play to win, not exercise my imagination of the ideal MechWarrior. If you purposely handicap yourself in a video game, I still think its stupid. Sorry. Just my opinion.

I don't just derp around in the solo queue Bishop. If I did, I could probably get by using half of my available weapons and still be one of the team leaders, but since I actually have to play good players, there is no point in giving myself a disadvantage.

learn to play without armslock, and be shocked by how little you spread, and yet how free you are to engage peripheral targets. Remember, this game existed without Armlock for along time.

I'd be wounded, good sir, if that wasn't such a feeble attack. Play the game how you will, as I said, it's my OPINION. As for your opinions of my play level or competition? Honestly? Don't care.

Wasn't "Tallman" the last name of the Pilot? Mary Tallman?
So maybe "Tallman" wasn't the name of the mech?

It'd still be better than "Top Dog", because it is just so boring.

Straight off of Sarna.
  • TDR-5S-T Thunderbolt Tallman The personal ‘Mech of Bremond DMM commander Leftenant-General Mary Tallman during the DCMS's Third Succession War invasion of Galtor III, only the large laser remains, with the rest of the standard weaponry replaced with a brace of four medium lasers in each side torso. The remaining weight and space is devoted to eight additional heat sinks. BV (2.0) = 1,447[32]

Anyone seen any info on the cost of this mech. I love my thunderbolts and I usually use energy weapons I have bad luck with ammo explosions plus with the right medium pulse laser with somw large beamers would be a good mech for pin point damage. Love me some laser and I love to core out legs and torso, I will either take out half your weapons load out or take your speed and taht a win in myh book beside i get the credit for comp destroyed which mean more cbills for me. Them modules are crazy expensive. One thing I do wish they would allow us to sell mc consunnable that we win for mc or cbill. I dont use mc consunmable but i could use that mc for hero mech purchases.

Now bring on River City Redux I want me some River City Redux I hope to finally see what thise build that or out of bounds look like.

As the 65 ton Firebrand & Jester both cost 4875 MC, this will be how much the Tbolt Top Gun will cost.

Quirks is the only thing making Thunderbolts good right now, so if this thing has bad quirks it's going to be pretty weaksauce despite having 9E.

Several clan mechs can already get 9E and more, it's not a big deal and often not even worth using. What are you going to put there? 9 medpulse with much worse quirks than the 5SS? That's just going to be hotter and slower with less range for a slightly nastier alpha.

SPLs?, well yeah that might be fun but hardly competitive. You can't go higher than standard 315 which isn't going to cut it for extreme close range focus.

Mixing in larger lasers? Maybe, but this is no xl friendly mech so you only have so much weight to play with or go super squishy while still being capped to 315 engine.

You can mix medium and medium pulse, or medium and large like the stock variant, which is likely the best bet, but you have lighter mechs like the BJ-1X doing that very well already while running like the wind.

We already have the Grasshopper 5P with 8E and jj, and the black knight with 9E is coming too. Both looks better in the absence of quirks.

So as far as I can see this thunderbolt needs quirks to be good just as much as the current variants do.
