So last weekend, as I was playing, I all of the sudden got intermingled black/grey lines covering the whole screen. Praying it was just a driver failure, I rebooted, only to see graphical corruption on all the boot screens, and windows not fully loading/loading to a solid blue screen (not a BSOD screen). Digging further, I was able to get into the Bios, but it still had graphical corruption. So I assumed my GPU had died, and ordered a new one, which came today. With the new one in, I just get no signal, and am fairly sure my PC is not even booting properly. (Capslock/numlock have no effect on the keyboard lights) Will most likely have access to another PC tomorrow to verify if the new card is viable, but diagnostics is not really my strong suit, and I thought I would throw my symptoms out here to see if any body had any ideas. Did I misjudge, and these are actually CPU/motherboard symptoms? Any help any one could offer is appreciated.

BIOS Splash Page has corruption = shot card

For the new situation: You have the new card in the right slot? With all the power patches filled? Any fans come on?

If you pull out all the memory, does it beep at you, like is should?

Tell me you've followed proper static electricity countermeasures, what with all this touching of the mobo?

Listing comp specs would also help ie: psu, cpu, mobo, etc.

And what Goose mentioned above....

Yup, verified all power connections, even went as far as trying with an extra psu i had laying around, still no joy. strange thing is, after feeling a bit crazy, i put the old gpu back in, and lo and behold, i could actually boot back into my bios. still corrupted, still won't actually load windows, but it would boot. so i put the new card back in, and no boot, no post, nothing. (all fans spinning though) leaning towards a bunk new card at this point, but i wanted to double check my bases. will hopefully be able to try the new card in a different pc tomorrow, but to verify, the original symptoms sound like gpu to you, yes?

Sounds more like a hardware conflict.

New GPU may not jive with the mobo

As I mentioned before, computer specs would help as well.

Shouldn't be a compatibility issue as far as I'm aware,
i5 2500k
msi p67-a g43 mobo
8Gb generic 1333mhz ram bios test says still good
old GPU amd hd7850
new GPU amd r9 380
tested first on a corsair 750 watt single rail psu, then on a rosewill 500 watt(just to double check it wasn't my psu being screwy)

Just for reference, the newest BIOS version for your mobo is 5.4 from 1/9/13 according to MSI ...

Also, what Catalyst driver are you using?

Windows version?

1) Do the new GPU fans spin?

2) Take new card out see if you can boot of the IGPU on the 2500K

3) Reset the CMOS battery.

4) Beep? Beep beep? Or Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep?

Interesting, didn't know you would have to flash BIOS for a new GPU. That IS a new one.

Good to hear Kiboelt.

Yup, sometimes it is a necessary evil to have to flash an updated BIOS on an older mobo just to use new/newer hardware. Been there, done that and hated it !!

P67 overclocks too, Z chipset came half a year after sandy bridge launched.

glad you fixed your problem, just a bit of info GPUs have their own bios.you can update gpu bios if there is a later version though its not always necessary.
