The saga begins! I just recently opened an Etsy store for various wood burnings and upcycled bullet jewelry, and I had a couple of people express interest in custom Battletech logos for their man caves/cockpits/control rooms. And so it begins! I'll be posting my progress as I go along, and updating the shop with any finished pieces, so check it out!

This is what I've got so far. Sadly, my printer is out of ink, and Staples didn't have the kind I need in stock, so I have to do things the old-fashioned way for a few days. In light of said printer problems, I decided to keep things small and do a practice piece on a spare bit of plywood I had laying around. I'll probably end up cutting it out and using it as my own personal drink coaster, maybe a full set of all the Clans. What do you guys think? I'd love to get your feedback!

Alright, finished the practice piece! To be fair, I should have done it on a larger piece, this one was about 5" x 5". It's terribly hard to do curves and shading that small! Anyways, here's the piece with all the lines done:



And here's it with shading! I was torn between shading the flames or the skin, but I decided to go with the artwork and keep the flames as they were and shade in the horse's skin. I'll probably cut off the excess wood at some point and use it as a drink coaster, but my saw isn't set up yet so that'll be a post for another time. Behold!

I just gotta say, this one was a ton of fun to burn. Lots of nice easy curves and straight lines. Surprisingly, the stars were probably the hardest thing to do on this piece. I'm still working on the staining (using some nice Red Oak stain for it), but the mosquitoes got too bad for me to stay out there.

The color's a bit messed up in that picture, it's actually a dark red color. I'll be applying varying levels of stain to the other parts of it to get it closer to the original Clan Wolf logo tomorrow.

Oh god... you just reminded me that i have like 200 of these somewhere in the garage when I first got the tool to do these... I wounder if I still got them.

I'll be sure to do at least one piece of each of the Clan logos and the Inner Sphere houses at some point. I can make them as small as coasters or as large as wall hangings, so just let me know what kind of stuff you'd like to see for your favorite faction! Anything that I make without a buyer in mind I'll be throwing on my Etsy page for anyone to purchase! If you'd like to commission me for any projects in advance, shoot me a message (preferably on Etsy, link in first post, I forget to check here sometimes)!

EDIT: I know I don't have many listing up for the custom wood burnings yet, I'm waiting to put more up until I have sample pieces for each detail level, but shoot me a message and we can get everything worked out.

EDIT: I've had a ton of people asking me if I sell these or make custom orders, and the answer is yes! [Redacted] (PM for link) I do custom orders as well, so anything from specific unit insignias to any non-Battletech logos are all in the realm of things I can do for you!

most look great, exepct that pink pony, it is missing the right colors a bit. or itt's maybe just the picture taken having colors wrong.

Yeah, the pictures turned out a bit off, it's definitely red, not pink. XD

Sure thing! Pretty much anything not already made is on the docket. My lead time is about 1 to 2 weeks, but I made a TON of plaques when I stopped by the workshop yesterday, so it might be a little less than that.

Maybe you need to make a nice clickable signature banner, with a "Have a look at my BattleTech hobby projects" tekst, instead of people needing to PM you?

Oh, and make sure you refer people to the first post every time you update the thread. I only looked there to see if there was still a link present in that one and suddenly noticed the new work like the gorgeous Comstar and Draconis Combine ones.
