Collision Changes From July 21st Are Being Reverted

Hey all,

As outlined in this sub-forum by a few players so far (and noticed by many more), the changes to collision that rolled out in the July 21st patch had some unfortunate side effects. Increased leg damage and 'Sticky Mech Syndrome' are the two most critical issues that were introduced by these changes.

As a result, in the August 4th patch we are going to be rolling back those collision changes to the way things were prior to the July 21st patch.

Is mech collision going to be a continued effort, or can we expect quite a bit of time before it's touched again?

I'll be sad to see it go. Yeah, the damage needs to be looked at, and the warping needs to be fixed, but I dunno, it just feels a lot better to not be able to walk through other mechs.

No ETA right now on when collisions will be re-approached after the August 4th reversion.

I for one appreciate the efforts at improving them, and I look forward to more revisions, even if it takes a few tries and mistakes to get it just right. So thanks, Alex and friends/whoever works on this stuff!

Thank you. I hope it will get re-implemented once the nasty side effects get sorted out.

Sticky mech syndrome, I like that. 'Sorry Commander, I can't drop today. I have the sticky mech syndrome :( '

Not warping through mechs as often is an improvement, I think you should try to improve the current collisions instead of going back to what we had.

Those are sad news... I actually didn't had big problems with collisions. Yes I had once Raven stuck to my mech, but that's it.

Who are those people who always get stuck in statues and stick to other mech?

Couldnt the damage just be lowered instead, and leave the half broken collision in, i'd rather get "stuck" on another mech then clip through, if anything the discrepancy in what you can climb/step over is far more frustrating.

Um repeatedly running by someone and then teleporting back and doing it again 10 times in a row whilst taking leg damage is not physics/reality.

Yeah leg damage and "sticky mechs" have been the death of me on many occasions sadly.

Oh man.. Teleports it's connection problem, or server.

Remind relationship between reality with physics and bad Internet connection?

I don't experience these problems and legs are broken through my fault. No teleports there.

it's not really teleporting it's some kind of rubberband sticking which went rampant after the patch on 21st

But, on topic, thank GOD! Sticky mech has been a massive PITA! Much worse than the teleporting of olde... though, I do still hate the teleporting of olde >_>
