Just leaked by Catalyst. Turn based. Also, it appears (though currently unconfirmed) that the art style for MWO and this is shared. Very cool!

PC Gamer Article here: http://www.pcgamer.c...ith-battletech/

http://www.gameinfor...this-fall-.aspx

Back in May, we spoke with Jordan Weisman and Mitch Gitelman of Harebrained Schemes. During our chat, we asked about other upcoming projects at the studio and were told that another of Weisman’s older IPs was under consideration.

Our guesses were Battletech or Crimson Skies, and today we know which. Harebrained Schemes is asking fans to help make Battletech a reality once more.

The Kickstarter will launch this fall for funding of a new, turn-based game set in the world of giant, armed-to-the-teeth mechs. When Harebrained Schemes last ventured to Kickstarter for Shadowrun: Hong Kong, it adopted a matured crowdfunding model.

The studio had base funding to make the game, but asked fans to contribute funds in order to make it a bigger, meatier game. Given the language in the media alert, we suspect the same model will be in play for Battletech when Harebrained Schemes begins to seek assistance later this year.

As for Shadowrun: Hong Kong, it will arrive on August 20. This makes the gap between crowdfunding completion and release a mere six months, delivering on the promise to release the latest installment this summer.

Not really a leak.

EDIT: Also, Mechcommander 3.
It was "confirmed" a while ago.

Basically, what Mechwarrior Tactics SHOULD have been.

Can't wait, because i, for one, did enjoy Mechwarrior Tactics, despite the art style, bugs, little content and no devs at all, before IGP decided to pull the plug, cash-in the founders and flee

It's entering Kickstarter and Hairbrained has certainly delivered what was promised with Shadowrun Returns. I have high hopes for this and will back it.

Kickstarter, eh?

So now that I've finally managed to get my MWO and Star Citizen spending under control, there's a new Battletech pc game on Kickstarter. I guess I'll just have to put other luxuries on hold for a while. Like toilet paper, soap and non-canned food.

That really does look a lot like PGI's art style. Not just the Atlas but the other mechs as well.

I hope they have a deal with PGI and they have permission to use that look. Otherwise it just seems like someone over at CGL really wants to hire some lawyers.

Also they claim it's the only turn based battletech game for PC in over 2 decades. Yeah I'd like to pretend Mechwarrior Tactics never happened also, and it never made it out of early closed beta. I guess Megamek isn't a thing either. (it does say unofficial on their site).

Don't get me wrong, I love that they are doing this. I think they could do a much better job than IGP was doing with MWT.

Btw, has TheB33F totally ruined the MWO Atlas for anyone else? I don't even watch his videos, but it's still the first thing that comes to mind when I see that MWO-style Atlas skull.

Sounds great and if the assets are shared by PGI, sounds even better!

New addition incoming...

Yes! Nice, called it back when it became known they'd bought the rights to MW:T. Also they definitely are using Alex'/PGI's artworks:

And don't worry, they certainly acquired the rights to them, as Russ had mentioned back then he was talking to Jordan.

They should ask Beef to be the broadcaster of the battles.
"Greetings mechwarriors, 'dis is da Beoufa speking."
"Look dat Raven fleeing. Stop it Raven. Stop it."
"Looks like a critical. Uhhh what to saaay"

I imagine if they can get an official OK from PGI to reuse the mech assets, it should save them a hell of a lot of development time, anyways. Import the mech models and all that work is already taken care of.

I want to like it but I think turn based PC games are just to boring and I'm disappointed in the news TBH, I thought when Russ was tweeting about it they were going to join forces and get out a solid single player / co-op campaign now I'm losing faith.

Somehow your edit showed up after I posted, everything's fine now.
