So this dude is Hanse Davion. Apparently he started the fourth succession war. *tsk tsk* But while reading I also found out that he started a war with the DC. The DC fought back and stopped his advance, taking some planets he lost to the DC in the 1st Succession war.
Privately, however, he admitted that he had been strategically beaten and showed a genuine respect for Theodore Kurita.
His respect for Theodore Kurita, combined with strategic considerations, lead him to order the Kell Hounds and Wolf's Dragoons to Luthien, capital of the Draconis Combine, to bolster the world's defenses against the Clan assault. The Battle of Luthien ended in defeat for Clan Smoke Jaguar and Clan Nova Cat and saved the command integrity of the DCMS. That it was Hanse that ensured the survival of the Federated Suns' most hated enemy speaks tantamount to his visionary political and strategic acumen.
It sounds like he saved your bacon.
He died of a heart attack the next year.

This is the most common theory, but I disagree. Personally, I think it was the Joker.
Remember in the first movie when he put a binary neurotoxin in various cosmetic products?
There's no surer way to kill a Davion than to poison his shampoo and conditioner.

If Hanse Davion had been Kurita they would have created the title of Shogundam just for him and he'd have painted the map red with mechs armed only with giant katanas and giant anime style 'Buster' swords.
Then he would have married Romano Liao and given her Steiner as a wedding present.

NKVA requires something to do with left hand while destroying clanners with the right
Whatever you want to call that thing you do while watching Sailor Moon, big guy. I'm sure most of NKVA 'destroys clanners' a couple times each day.
