I suspect that I will not ever play on that server or with anyone that sticks to just that server. :(
That being said I hope it works out for everyone.

I've already filtered to NA only. Even with pings in the 160, I was seeing noticeable hitreg differences. It wasn't as big of a deal with laser vomit, but I run PPC builds (Vindicator, Panther, Urbanmech, etc...) and it was flaky.

Plus that zoom lag...my god that zoom lag.

Anyway, if Oceanic is worse, there is no way in heck I'm playing there.

At least now I know the pain the overseas players had to endure in the past :(.

Actually, 200-300 ms ping is still okay despite what I said earlier. Come, play with us! ;)

It's not how high the ping is that is the problem for me. It's that it isn't particularly stable. No Idea what I'll get from one match to the next or even during. That's for Euro servers. I'm not even going to try Oceanic.

Sorry, I just don't think I can. For me it would be like going back to the late 90s playing games on my 33.6 or 56k modem, and while that was cool back then the last 15+ years have spoiled me with significantly better pings. Now if we could get modern developers to truly work some magic with netcode like they had to do back in the day I might consider it, but that seems like a lost art now days.

Playable certainly although not ideal.

Heh. 250 ping was what I had to work with in NA. If I can hack it, so can anyone with around that values. :)

Well, I am totally looking forward to trying this server. Having played from New Zealand since the early Open Beta, my Ping started at around the 300ms mark, and has slowly managed to drop down to about 220. So, anything that can drop me down to american levels will be worth trying.

I wonder how lonely it is in that corner of the world? I'd love to move to New Zealand, myself.

I'm from Europe and played some matches on the new oceanic server. Did pretty okay with a ping of 200, nice people were around. I will keep all three boxes checked :)

Ping from Germany is absolutely acceptable with the new hitreg fixes. Great matches to be had. Enjoy your new pings over there! ;)

I'll give the server a try from the UK and if it's acceptable I'll ride with it, if not I'll just uncheck it. There's no point in NA and EU complaining about it because in the end it's all about physics. I think it's great that OC players at least have an option that suits them and I hope it'll improve their gameplay experience and increase player participation and retention.

HA! Us Aussies have been working with pings from 240-300+ since CB. Now you know what we have had to put up with.

TBH you do get used to it :)

Cheers

New Zealand is a beautiful country. When i've thrown the last of my kids out i plan on retiring there.

Nope. Not even going to attempt it. Congrats on your new servers though.
