EXP:
One could be rescuing a far afield outpost/convoy where slow mechs would not be an option and heavier, more battle worthy mech were needed else where. Criteria could be three lances of low ton (20-30?) lights would skirmish another three.
Defense of outpost from pirates/Clan Raiders.... Militia Urbanmechs with a few mediums vs Pirate Locust or Clan raiders using Myst Lynx.
Heavy Base defense could be a clash of Titans. Assaults vs Assaults.
Lots of examples in the MWO single player games from years ago.
