Been working on my Atlas for the event (to get 150 pts) and being a brawler can be hit or miss, even if it's fun to splat SRMs in someone's face. I've been using Gauss + 3 LL on many of my heavy mechs to good effect so I decided it should work alright on at Atlas that can move fast enough. My Atlas is mastered so it has speed tweak.

AS7-D

AS7-D (Fixed my Motorhead because I'm dumb!)

It's a simple build that works for me. Standard 360 engine means you have max speed at 64 kph without the danger of side torso kills. 3x Large Laser with Range+CD module and 1 Gauss Rifle with CD module and 4 tons of ammo. 4 DHS in the engine to keep it cool and a token BAP on the leg to scare off ECM lights. If you want to be supported with LRMs against these lights then slap on 360 target retention and hope for some assistance, otherwise I go with Radar Derp + Seismic Sensor

TL;DR

Endo+Ferro (yes, I went there!) Posted Image
STD 360 engine + 4 DHS
3 LL (CD/Range mods)
1 Gauss (CD mod/4 tons ammo)
BAP for fun

You armor placement in the RT and CT is wack.

I leave those on default. People mix and match their own armor anyway so I never bother changing it.

But it's not even maxed, take out BAP and max out the armor

Half tons of Gauss Ammo to critpad the Gauss, and it's optimized

3LL Gauss works better on the RS and 3ERLL Gauss works better on the K. Mine is 2xUAC5 3LL: http://mwomercs.com/...ps-build-guide/

So you have a Gauss Rifle and Lasers slung at hip-level on the tallest Battlemech in the game - and one of the slowest. It will be instructive when we are able to match tiers to builds.

I think the OP was referring to a range build, but this is what I'd do as a brawler on the D.

Never had any luck with ranged Atlas builds. The low slung weapons, sluggish response, and high armor just sort of lend themselves to committing to a close range fight.

I would just stick with the 350. That additional 4 tons isn't getting you too much (2kph & 1.14 degree a second), you could use that for other things.

it's more like a need of slots than a need for tonnage.

This is the fastest, the spankiest, the most credit to team in one package you can get in a D. I run this in my founders.

Personally for me No Atlas should be mounting anything beyond a 335 The Atlas should be more about heavy weapons and armor rather then speed, Also building Atlas for one role which I see time and time again is handicapping the mech. The atlas is really meant for multi range engagement. Its not a bad design but I would figure out a way to fit at least 2 SRM-6 +A

Give the recent SRM speed and clustering buff, they are now pretty good weapons, barring wacky hit-reg issues which can still happen with bad ping. Well worth considering on mechs now.
