Mostly people are just voting for whatever mech is most popular, like the Stormcrow, Arctic Cheetah and Thunderbolt, with a few exceptions. I think a lot of people still miss the days when the Atlas was king and they miss the glowing eyes and they want all the different skulls, so it's more about what would 'feel right' as opposed to what makes a difference for them personally.

But I'm surprised that the Raven is winning the IS light mech category quite clearly. I would have guessed more people wanted to see the Firestarter done first. Not just because it's more popular, but because there's so much more you can do with the Firestarter. You can replace the head, you can replace the shoulders, you can add some more flamer tanks or even replace the current flamer tanks with something different, the list goes on.

I voted for the Raven, personally. But I'm not sure what they would do for it, except adding the old school laser barrels. Maybe some antennae would be cool. Maybe they could do a custom geo shield for the RVN-2X.

It really does seem like that.
I personally voted for the Urbanmech (how can you NOT vote for the Urbanmech, i mean REALLY?), Centurion for Mediums (mostly because there's a lot you can do with it), Catapult for Heavies (I really want my pointy nose on it, damn it!) and the Atlas for Assaults (There's simply so much you can do with it, different skulls, glowing eyes in different colors, different colored interior design of the cockpit etc).

I ALMOST voted for the Thunderbolt, though.
Mostly because i really want normal fists on it. (and maybe a slightly different cockpit. Like a "hooded one" like in this alex's sketch: http://24.media.tumb...cixsno1_500.jpg)

I think of they made some of these customization options to be things that better reflect Alex's artwork, we'd all be more in love with it.

Example, I want my Crab to look like Alex's Crab drawing.

I can't even put camo schemes on my Wave I invasion variants, but sure, stained cockpit glass sounds really great. I also think the retro maddog lasers are a bad idea, because I fell all pulse lasers should look like the retro lasers. Now all IS and clan lasers from small to large, ER or pulse, look the same... there is no feel for size. And that also results from inconsistent weapon scaling across the board. What would be really useful is adding unit decals...

Retro pulse lasers should look the same on all mechs? welp... looks like quite a lot will be ugly...

Problem with all having the same is a unique style may look good on some (ie Mad dog, warhawk, etc) while others (firestarter, banshee, atlas, locust, etc) have a high chance of failing bad- especially when the medium pulse laser on a locust would be longer then it's own legs...

Meanwhile if we give all mechs a "pointed" medium laser like the raven, we would have "Nipple-mechs" like no tomorrow... bad arse on raven, makes griffon, banshee, executioner, etc look very... very.... odd....

Hence why I said it was a mist lynx

often hides away with ECM and when someone finds it it rather does a crippling blast of SRM's to your back or it runs away

would like to add 1 more idea. maybe get achievements added to some of this if possible. let say glowing atlas eye something we already know pgi has in the game. u can either earn by paying X amount of MC or by getting the top tier of the assault assist achievement. could also plop a few of the cosmetics stuff in CW reward tree.

Id still like the custom "decals". Did that one get lost, as I remember they were working on it at one point.

I've mentioned this in another thread but I would like to see them add purchasable textures(new/slightly used/weathered/heavily weathered/bullet riddled).

I personally like the weathered texture that most older IS mechs have but I'm sure there are a lot of players that would like their shiny new mech to look shiny and new. Everyone could go to the camo spec screen and purchase whichever texture they prefer.

I would probably pay some MC for custom geometry on at least 1 or 2 mechs as long as it didn't cost way too damn much.

For reference, color unlocks and camo unlocks cost way too much.

For now i would be happy to get the decals we were promised for 2 years (or more) now. Kill markings, numbers, skulls... and unit markings! Smaller ones for cbills and bigger ones or unit for a small amount of mc.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! Yes yes yes yes yes yes!
I've said it before, but I'm personally not interested in more mechs. I have more than I know what to do with, and the only ones I really want I can buy with c-bills

Consider adding different color JJ's, and more reticules to your list Alistair. May as well throw decals on there too since they were quietly swept under the rug... But we haven't forgotten

Also, picked this great idea up from another thread: Different audio

Said to reply in the other category so ooooo:

Other:
Clan: elemental riding into battle on mechs, probably high mc cost, moderate animations. Link with elemental launch consumable but not needed to use the consumable. Just if the consumable is used on a mech instead of them doing from space, the elemental swarm jumps of the mech.
For IS: same, for battlearmor (standard) unit consumable. Again, not needed to make consumable work, but additional animation instead of drop from space.
Later idea to add: changeable BA types to other armor units.
Could make basic BA c-bills, skin(s) mc.
MECHANICS: if c Bill for use, mc for skins: add extra armor to parts utilizing BA until deployed.
If mc add on only: no in game effect except metal ticks of evil riding to death and glory!

Additional on mechanics: BA could be used as ablative armor at the cost of the BA. Dead BA don't get used on launch if consumable is ever made. Have 5 elemental and lose 2, obviously only 3 would launch.

why not get them as part of achievements?

Winning a game with a kill but no damage to yourself = undamaged skin unlocked.
Liquid metal achievement = very melted and burned and filled with holes unlocked
surviving a game with less then 20% condition = lots of bulet holes and stuff. etc.

The problem with the raven is that would create a bit to much of a geometry change that it would affect the hitbox greatly.
however it is the sexy raven I know and love...
