Title says it. Seems like I had it running off a portable drive at one time but can't remember how I pulled it off.

Back before the file restructure? Yes for sure.

Now adays, I do not think so.

Anything that comes to mind would be inherently more difficult or expensive than just installing it wherever you're playing it, and would require similar system priviliges.

What's the objective here?

Yes, the game be run from an external drive as long as it is used on the same computer (just very long load times). You can no longer go from PC to PC and hope to run the game.

Yes it can. I've done it many times.

Now this Cybercafe does not have MWO installed, Luckily this Cybercafe has a USB port, but only 2.0 black, regardless,

1) plug in a external harddisk casing with SSD_OCZ inside.[
2) then install MechWarriorOnlineInstaller.exe and CUSTOM pointing to the "already installed inside SSD" drive letter, G:\ in my case.
3) install is completed immediately under one min.
4) install vcredist_x64.exe so that MWO can run in 64bit environment/mode.
5) Launch and play.

Btw game launch into lobby/mechlab through USB 2.0 port was acceptably fast, around 40seconds +/-15seconds, surprisingly. Game launch DROP to play is standard fast/slow search.

Nice workaround. Didn't think of that.
