How would they be represented?

Player controlled? AI opponents?

If player controlled, how would they be balanced to be fun?

If AI controlled, how would they be balanced?

I like the idea of 1 player getting AI BA with him and as the player dies he takes over as a 'respawn' in to one of his points remaining Elementals. So a player as a BA gets the chance to have 5 lives, provided he does not die. I would even like to see 5 players being in the same point. If buildings are anything decent, and some could be entered Elementals could be used to deadly effect in urban warefare.

Id love to see them, but they need to get physical attacks and vehicles done first IMHO.

Yeah they could be a real problem if say stepping on one did nothing or effectively walking through it.

How surprising - the split on the poll is about the same as those who said they would play IS/Clan. I wonder if the two might be linked?

I would rather have things like conventional vehicles and infantry be something AI controlled so it can be fielded in the correct numbers. And please...no 150kph impossible to hit elementals!

Maybe. I just want to see everything in the game eventually represented in MWO. I think the old 3025 era stuff with the whacky layouts and heat issues are more fun to play though.

... and if there are Elementals in Game ... it would be great if some Clan Mechs have Elementalcarrier. It´s some Time ago i read a Book and there was a Invasion from Dropships. Some Mechs took 4 Elemental with them.

i want to see mech, aerospace, dropships, jumpships, artillary, infantry, i would like to see it all.. but lets be realistic.. one thing at a time.. lets get a working mech game..lol

I think elementals would be interesting. They were actually a unique element in Living Legends, but the fact everyone that ejected turned into one got me sick of them very fast. If you had to chose it from the start, it'd be fine; elementals were a blast in MechWarrior 2 team modes as well just from being so hard to hit.

I'd say they'd almost positively need the ability to latch to Omnis to make them work though. Otherwise they'd never get into the fight.

I liked these aspects in Living Legends, in particular armor. I love driving tanks in a 'mech environment and some of them can be a blast. I'd love to see that sort of thing brought in again, though I think dropships/jumpships are better left to NPCs.

If they ever do add Aerospace fighters in though, I really hope they put in some space maps and aerospace only restrictions. It'd be kind of cool to have a basic fighter/bomber space sim going linked into the same metagame.

I wouldn't expect them any time soon, but seeing Elementals (and their IS sort-of-equivalents) would be nice at some point. When mechs only fight mechs, the value of machineguns, small lasers, and other small weaponry quickly drops, and people ditch all their small weapons for a little extra armor, one more heatsink, etc.

When combined armor is put in-game, the machines fielded by the pilots will include a wider variety of weaponry, so they are not helpless when a point of Elementals suddenly pops out of a building less than 100 meters away. Hands and jump jets will suddenly become that much more valuable, as they are both great for brushing off Elementals when no one else is around (or, at least, keep them too busy to do anything but hang on tight).

Having friends with flamers and machineguns will also be very handy; having to pick Elementals off your buddy's back with a Defiance Hammerfist would kind of suck.

On the other hand, though, I would not be disappointed if they never appear; mech-on-mech fighting is the best part of Battletech, IMHO, and having people running around in BA would get annoying.

Ok guys, here is the thing.

You don't figh a mech with 1 Elemental, the fight in points of 5 elementals. 1 on 1, an elemental vs mech fights ends with a squished elemental. In fact in most 5 on 1 fights you end up with dead elementals and a damaged mech.

So just to re-cap. You want a unit that is slower then a mech, has short range weaponry and requires the close cooperation of five players to be effective against a mech (Let's see you do that with a PUG).

That doesn't sound at all fun to me and I think we can do without it.

I said NO for now cause I want every mech put into the game before the Dev's start working on other things, like vehicles, aero, vtols, MELEE fighting for mechs, etc. Then if they get everything else in the game like arty, mines, naval, subs, maybe they can put infantry in and eventually armored infantry and elementals.

I agree that elementals are part of what made the clan invasion and is an important part. But so are warships and aero. But first things first, put all the TRO mechs in to the current timeline then add other things as AI first then possibly as playable or as a separate game.

I think non-mech's should only be in there as non-player character entities. Its easier to balance that way I think.
